In its feeble attempts to assist everyone here against vandalism, it only adds to the problem by redoing vandalism, re-adding quotes in direct violation of quote limits, making a mockery out of me, unruly calling akko a bot without any evidence, false (and somehow personal) threats against another vandal (even sending such threats to a vandal is vandalism), etc. It has learned nothing from its previous block. I request immediate action be taken against this IP before it strikes again. DawgDeputy (talk) 23:17, 17 February 2021 (UTC)

A long history of problematic edits and ignoring rules, and in trying to undo vandalism (or so he egregiously claims), he continuously adds to the problem, and mocks those who undo his edits. He constantly claims he would never add unnecessary emphasis to quotes again, but he constantly breaks that promise without any remorse (besides, he should never have vandalized to begin with). And fellow user Eaglestorm (a longtime model editor) will back me up on this one. I request this user be blocked for good and is denied access to talk pages. - This is a content dispute but not vandalism. It's valid to write "NOOOO!" versus "No!". This should be discussed on talk and only constitutes admin action to the extent that it's edit-warring. This IP's edits have to be struck from the record completely, as if the IP's edits never existed.

- There is still the matter of blocking the IP, which has been blocked before (three months ago). Apparently, after its favorite pages got protected against it, decided to take its actions elsewhere. DawgDeputy (talk) 12:04, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
- I've protected the three above pages for a month - will revisit after that time has passed. ~ UDScott (talk) 15:02, 28 October 2021 (UTC)

Poor editing, adding blank subsections without including meaningful and complete quotes, pestering administrators for help with vandalism, and false promises. Requesting significant blocking with revocation of talk page access (including its own), and indefinite (semi-)protection of all articles it vandalized. DawgDeputy (talk) 20:19, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- How would you know that the IP is making false promises if they haven't edited since? Also note that this is not blatant vandalism, it may be disruptive editing, and they may be asking for help about how to add quotes etc? They look like a good-faith editor to me, but I don't really have too much of an effect on the final result. --Ferien (talk) 20:39, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- Adding (blank) subsections and incomplete (and meaningless) quotes opens the door to even more incomplete (and meaningless) quotes, and I intend to keep that door locked and destroy the keys. DawgDeputy (talk) 21:44, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- And I have been through IPs making false promises before. This IP may not be the same as before, but I refuse to take any chances. DawgDeputy (talk) 22:05, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- You never know, they may have added the blank subsections to start adding quotes to them later. We can't assume every IP is the same and we can't block it just because we're assuming it will do something bad. Not every IP is a vandal. - Ferien (talk) 15:01, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- If the IP were not a vandal, the IP would have included real quotes (instead of useless, meaningless ones) with the subsections in the first place rather than open the door to other vandals or copyright violation (by that, I mean adding quotes to exceed the limit, depending on the length of the project). DawgDeputy (talk) 15:40, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- I agree with Ferien absolutely. Not only Not every IP is a vandal but also IP editors do a tremendous job of adding content to all wmf-wikis imio. Ottawahitech (talk) 17:07, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- On Wikipedia, yes, but here, non-problematic IPs have been declining, whereas problematic IPs have been rising. And speaking of problematics, we have a much worse IP user in the form of 73.190.188.98. See the report below. DawgDeputy (talk) 18:12, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- Nevertheless, hold off on this report for now. I have already reduced the number of quotes in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (TV special) to meet the limit. But if this IP or any other user attempts to add any more quotes, they must be warned. DawgDeputy (talk) 18:29, 14 November 2021 (UTC)

- @DawgDeputy: My personal experience indicates a totally different situatIon from the one you describe, but IT IS anecdotal and not based on any type of unbiased statistics. Can you provide statistics to illustrate your views? thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 20:11, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
Vandalism on UDScott's talk page
This IP vandalism/harassment against this respected administrator (and all other administrators) has to come to a stop. Requesting indefinite semi-protection of his talk page for an indefinite period of time, and all harassment edits and edit summaries be stricken as if they never existed. DawgDeputy (talk) 20:25, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- The vandalism is unkind and harassive to say the least, but indefinitely semi-protecting UDScott's user talk page would be completely ineffective for multiple reasons, like w:WP:DENY (making other innocent IPs suffer because of others' vandalism which gives that vandal recognition). They'd also just go onto another talk page. There's really no need to discuss it in detail (again, DENY) but I think that gives you somewhat of an idea into why this is not a good way to stop this vandalism. --Ferien (talk) 20:34, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- There is only one other way: Rally to only allow registered users on WMF, because IP addresses cause far more trouble than registered users. Once a registered user is blocked infinitely, blocking its future accounts is a snap. IP vandals, on the other hand, is another story. DawgDeputy (talk) 22:07, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- Furthermore, other administrators such as GreenMeansGo have had their talk pages semi-protected indefinitely, as well. Why should UDScott not receive the same treatment? And it would not hurt if you would do the same to your own talk page (I have seen the revision history on your talk page). Plus, my talk page is semi-protected, even though I am not an administrator.
- Innocent IPs? Unfortunately, for the past few years, those sorts of IP addresses have been on the decline, whereas problematic IPs have been on the rise. DawgDeputy (talk) 22:20, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hasley's page has been indefinitely semi protected but he is not an admin. Admins' talk page should ideally not be protected at all because they are people who IPs may need to contact. On my home wiki (simplewiki), pages are rarely protected, let alone protected indefinitely and I personally wouldn't like my talk page protected. Even if a talk page was protected, what good will it actually do with this vandal? They will go to an archive, they will go to another page you edited, they will go to another wiki. Protection is truly useless in this situation. --Ferien (talk) 14:51, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- The issue of IPs editing WMF projects is a whole other issue but creating an account does not take that much effort (you don't even need an email) so I think it would just increase vandalism from users, just like if you widen a road, more cars will drive on it. --Ferien (talk) 14:51, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- Only allowing registered users to edit does not add to the vandalism. It actually curbs it further. It makes it that much easier to block them and disable more account creations. DawgDeputy (talk) 18:15, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
