Sarcasm as a hate crime edit

Wikipedia's political nature seems immune to wider online zeitgeist "scare-em-ups" ... but your use of the word sarcasm in your user page may draw the wrong kind of attention? Probably non though. Sarcasm in the 'wiki word watch' list, seems to only draw up a certain style vs vibe effect & non outright "hate speech" ... yet. Text mdnp (talk) 21:07, 11 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring edit

When this block expires (in one hour), please take a breath and stop the edit warring that is not helpful to anyone. Please work to resolve your differences in a civil manner. Thanks. ~ UDScott (talk) 15:23, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

I do hope you realize the ban was largely pointless as clearly the only thing me and the other user are going to be “resolving” is how much we still disagree with each other. Dronebogus (talk) 16:28, 4 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your ping probably did not work edit

Hi Dronebogus,

Just to let you know: The ping you inserted at AN probably did not send a notification to the intended recipient. Pinging another user through the notifications system is done by linking their user page when editing any talk page, and successfully signing your post, in the same saved edit. A notification cannot be added and sent after the msg has already been signed and posted. I hope I am making sense? Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 16:52, 5 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Are the wiki-sisters (I mean enwp and all other wmf-wikis) missing an opportunity to expand readership and recruit new editors? All I have seen for the last couple of weeks on TV are women marching to protest the decision of the supreme court to rollback Roe v wade (only leaked so far). But the Wikimedia movement is doing zilch - no mention of the protests on any main pages that I have seen so far. Is the place really run by white young men as has been claimed by many?
Curious about your opinion. Cheers Ottawahitech (talk) 16:16, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don’t really know what you mean. We can’t take sides on the abortion debate, that’s blatantly partisan. Dronebogus (talk) 18:21, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I did not mean take sides. What I meant is there seems to be little coverage of the protests that are obviously very important to half the human population of the United States and outside. Ottawahitech (talk) 21:20, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Hm, I’d recommend taking that to In The News on enwiki Dronebogus (talk) 21:21, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I looked it up a few days ago on enwp (where I can still read, but not actively participate), and I believe a suggestion to post it ITN was shot down? In any event, since we are here at WQ shouldn't we do something about it here: we don't even have a page on the protests (and enwiki did not either at least yesterday). Ottawahitech (talk) 21:32, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
Then w:wp:DOIT Dronebogus (talk) 21:38, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I'll take it to the roe talk page. Do you mind if I insert a link to this thread? Ottawahitech (talk) 21:40, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
I don’t mind at all. Dronebogus (talk) 21:40, 16 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Despicable Me (film) edit

Now it appears that you are just being combative. I tried to apply some common sense to this page and settle on a compromise somewhere in the middle of the two positions (between you and DawgDeputy). Please do not revert the changes again. If you do, I will block you for disruptive behavior. If you disagree with any part of the changes made, bring them to the discussion page - I repeat, do not just revert them. I am not on either side in this dispute, but if you continue to behave as you have, I have no choice but to assume you are unwilling to compromise. ~ UDScott (talk) 17:45, 7 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Surgery in fiction edit

Hello, I was wondering if I would be interested in a category that could be added to the page for The Human Centipede: I try and stay away from niche subjects for categories ever since my ban form Wikipedia, but given the obvious application to the page in question I felt it an appropriate issue to raise to you. I was thinking surgery in fiction or the more specific surgery in film/surgery in television, however I don't believe Wikipedia has such categories, which is why I thought it might be a bit of a contentious addition on Wikiquote. In most works of fiction a character undergoing surgery may have little to do with the overall story and is simply trivia, however for others, such as this film and several other works of body horror, it is essential to the plot. CensoredScribe (talk) 23:07, 6 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sure, but just surgery in fiction, and maybe change to “medical-related fiction” since that’s more general, and ONLY for works specifically about medical work. Dronebogus (talk) 02:17, 7 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Fake talk edit

Maybe you could use User talk:Dronеbogus instead? – Ilovemydoodle (Not WMF, Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus, Not a paid editor of Shueisha) (talk / e-mail) 20:56, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

How did you do that? Dronebogus (talk) 20:57, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Special w:Unicode character that looks like an "e" but is technically a different character. – Ilovemydoodle (Not WMF, Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus, Not a paid editor of Shueisha) (talk / e-mail) 20:58, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
That’s cool but the fake talk incident was kind of a one-off, I’ve never needed it since Dronebogus (talk) 20:59, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Could you add it anyway just-in-case? – Ilovemydoodle (Not WMF, Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus, Not a paid editor of Shueisha) (talk / e-mail) 21:00, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
That requires a second account which I don’t want. Dronebogus (talk) 21:01, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
You don’t need a second account, you can create a user page for a user that doesn't exist. – Ilovemydoodle (Not WMF, Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus, Not a paid editor of Shueisha) (talk / e-mail) 21:02, 12 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Where do I add it? Dronebogus (talk) 04:58, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Anywhere you want. Maybe create a subpage? – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus) (talk / e-mail) 05:02, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
No, I mean {{subst: PingTest/Ilovemydoodle}}Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus) (talk / e-mail) 05:07, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Well, the first one didn't work (the one without subst, which was expected) but the regular one also didn't work, which means that pinging isn't working. – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus) (talk / e-mail) 05:15, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Is the profanity in the actual Striptease movie or not? edit

Last night, you asked me if the profanity was in the actual Striptease movie. Well, I can tell you that the answer is both yes and no. Profanity was in both the R-rated theatrical and unrated versions; however, when the movie aired on TBS and TNT many years ago, profanity was somehow censored out. So this might turn out to be a very actual debate. AdamDeanHall (talk) 13:43, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Maybe split the page into a ("somewhat") censored and uncensored version? – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus) (talk / e-mail) 13:45, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply
Unnecessary, censored dubs are common but you don’t see them for anything else. Dronebogus (talk) 15:42, 26 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring edit

I've blocked you for edit warring for a longer period this time. When you are able to edit again, head back to the talk page of the article if you are interested in the other edit being reverted. If this edit warring continues, you'll be given a much longer block, so please do not spend time edit warring and causing disruption. --Ferien (talk) 13:10, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Eaglestorm refuses to negotiate. Also, I assume it’s the Goldeneye page but are there any others? Dronebogus (talk) 14:12, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
I was talking about the Goldeneye page yes. Both of you refused to negotiate because there's nothing on Talk:Goldeneye... Ferien (talk) 14:49, 2 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

It was changing a capitalization randomly Dronebogus (talk) 11:11, 12 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Book Sources edit

Greetings! I believe we have bumped into each other a time or two on this page, maybe had some slight disagreements over protocol and procedure for editing, citing sources. But, I believe both of us are trying to make this site better in our way, so let me know if I can be of help. I was wondering about your thoughts on one item: citing book sources. I am not aware of any complete standard template for citing book sources, so I have gradually made up one of my own, loosely based on MLA formatting. I write: Author/chief editor/whatever or whoever is closest to author or editor, Title in italics (original year of publication), city of publication: publisher, edition, hardcover/paperback, page number.
I developed this setup because it offers a good amount of detail for follow-up if one is conducting research, and page numbers and content can vary between editions and versions of a book. Hence I reverted your edit removing mention of a book being hardcover on the same-sex marriage page. I hope this all makes sense, and if not, I will gladly explain further. Please let me know your thoughts and if I can be of any assistance with editing on this site.
P.S. By the way, I see you, too have crossed swords with Eaglestorm. That user used to be SO much worse than they are now, but got talked to by administration and blocked at least a few times and, somehow or another, gradually eased off somewhat. Even if they are still not especially cooperative or friendly. The two of us have both worked to improve the Top Gun: Maverick page, if you can believe it.
