What's Cookin' Doc?

1944 animated short film directed by Bob Clampett

What's Cookin' Doc? is a 1944 Warner Bros. cartoon in the Merrie Melodies series, directed by Bob Clampett and starring Bugs Bunny. The title is a variant on Bugs' catch-phrase "What's up Doc?". It also hints at one of the scenes in the picture.

Presenter: I am very happy to bring to you the name of the great actor to whom we feel this honor is due.
[Bugs makes his way to the stage]
Presenter: This highest honor is being bestowed on an actor who, because of his consistently fine performances, richly deserves this trophy. A fine dramatic actor,
[Bugs puts his carrot in his mouth like a cigar, grows thicker eyebrows, points menacingly while twisting his whiskers]
Presenter: and also a master of refined comedy.
[Bugs opens his mouth widely and sticks his tongue to the audience]
Presenter: A screen lover, unexcelled,
[Bugs morphs into Charles Boyer and romances the carrot]
Presenter: and equally good in character roles.
[Bugs morphs into Frankenstein's monster]
Presenter: I now take extreme pleasure in presenting the Academy Oscar to a fine actor, your favorite and mine, our own... James Cagney.
[Bugs does a wild take]
