The 2016 Brussels bombings were a series of bombings targeting civilians in Brussels on 22 March 2016. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the attacks and caused international condolences.

  • ASEAN Member States strongly condemn the terrorist attacks in Brussels, the Kingdom of Belgium on 22 March 2016, which caused numerous deaths and injuries, and damaged properties. ASEAN expresses its deep sympathies and condolences to the Government and people of the Kingdom of Belgium and to the families of the victims of the terrorist attacks. ASEAN fully supports the efforts of the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium in returning the situation to normalcy as soon as possible and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
