Your recent category additions
editThank you for your contributions, but I believe some of your recent new categories are redundant with already existing categories (e.g. Category:Writers seems redundant with Category: Authors). Please check that you are not creating redundant categories such that we ahve pages incorrectly tagged. Thanks. ~ UDScott (talk) 19:27, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- Most Welcome. Sure, I'll see.
- Yeah, those should be redirected/merged/renamed into the "by author" schema. Either one works, but we shouldn't have both. I would say though that as far as I remember the set up in Wikidata, Category:English people of Hungarian descent is more or less the right way of doing things. Where:
- Born in Hungary + lives in England = Hungarian people + Immigrants to England
- Born in England + Hungarian ethnicity = English people of Hungarian descent

- @UDScott, GreenMeansGo: Just happened to stumble into this discussion, in my opinion Writrers is a better term for the top level cat. Most people consider journalists, for example, to be writers but not authors. Just my $.02. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ottawahitech (talk • contribs) 18:50, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
Category:6th century births
editHi Muhammad Umair Mirza, You have been creating subcategories and sub-subcategories of Category:6th century births which currently contains less than two dozen entries in total. I believe this makes it harder not easier to find pages. Just wondering why you have done this? Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 18:44, 24 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi again, you continue to create categories that contain very few articles. For example Category:Novelists from Maine and Category:Chuck Palahniuk and more. You have not responded to the message I left on the 24 of January, can you please repond? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 06:08, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- The category Novelists from Kentucky has been visited 77 times in 1,5 years. Do we need so specific categories? In the article can be seen from where the person is. It's better to use Wikipedia if someone wants to find the novelists state by state, I think.--Ivalon Olavi (talk) 16:09, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- Muhammad Umair Mirza: I see you have been active here recently. Just to let you know that a similar discussion is taking place at: User talk:Tesleemah#Categories. I hope you will join us. Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 16:25, 3 November 2024 (UTC)
Just a quick question: on this recently created page, you listed some page numbers for the quotes, but did not include the source from which these are taken. Is there a work to which the page numbers refer? Adding that would be good. Thanks. ~ UDScott (talk) 16:37, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
- Ah, never mind - I see that you added it. Thanks ~ UDScott (talk) 16:37, 18 February 2021 (UTC)
