Using edit summary with your edits
editHi Ivalon Olavi I noticed you never use edit summaries. Yes, I realize this would slow you down. I myself am commonly facing this dilemma. What is more important: speed of editing or transparency. I believe that transparency is more important in most cases, at least on WQ where there are many wannnabe editors who can learn by example. What is your opinion? Thanks in advance, Ottawahitech (talk) 17:16, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Well, I use edit summaries if necessary (like with images), but I think that in categorizing it takes too much time.--Ivalon Olavi (talk) 17:22, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Not if you use hotcat. It may help you speed up actually, and do your edit summaries for you. Have you tried it? Ottawahitech (talk) 20:55, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- I haven't, 'cause my editing here may end any moment.--Ivalon Olavi (talk) 21:05, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- That would be a real shame. If you could restrict your editing only to this wikiquote, I doubt anyone would bother you? Ottawahitech (talk) 21:44, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Ivalon,
- I came here to check after seeing your category contribution at Maria Callas. You were right, of course. I see you were globally locked shortly after you posted this. What a shame! Ottawahitech (talk) 15:27, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

But I love the Estonian wikiquote. It's absolutely the best compared to the population: 4,500 articles for 1,5 million people.--Ivalon Olavi (talk) 01:09, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- I too have a soft spot for Estonia after spending one winter following white-tail eaglets in their nest from hatching to fledging captured on a webcam. I have this romantic view of estonia as one of the few countries that escaped turning into an urban jungle, but I'll have to check wikivoyage:Estonia when I get the chance (ha!) - Whole winter! Amazing! I'd like to see Canada, because it has neither turned into an urban jungle. Two languages (like we have), ice hockey, Thunder Bay etc. Where's that island that has lakes that have islands that have lakes...?--Ivalon Olavi (talk) 21:22, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- Actually Canada is almost completely urban jungle, at least most people who live in Canada live in one. ll the big cities of Canadaare located close to the US border (Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax) The only exception I can think of offhand is Edmonton, Cheers, Ottawahitech (talk) 17:12, 3 November 2024 (UTC)

Ciao
editHi, it's always a pleasure for me to see you on the English Wikiquote. Me too recommend you to limit your contributions to a couple of projects. On the Italian Wikiquote, for example, you were honestly making a bit of a mess but on the English one you always did well. --Spinoziano (talk) 09:29, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks! Yes, it's wiser to concentrate in the languages I understand. Cheers!--Ivalon Olavi (talk) 13:03, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
