Do not remove other user's comments on Wikiquote:Administrators' noticeboard, especially when they are about you
editIt's interesting that you say a wiki is "Not a forum for issues and disputes of other wikis" when you yourself brought up issues of this wiki on other wikis. Anyway, if you have a problem with a post about you, you shouldn't remove it yourself, but ask an admin to remove it. They will do so if your request is reasonable. ~ DanielTom (talk) 14:58, 11 May 2018 (UTC)
The 6 month offer: Has anyone ever actually been allowed back on Wikipedia after being banned?
editYou mentioned having been blocked on Wikipedia and hoping to use Wikiquote as a say to be allowed back under the 6 month offer, which is the reason I came here as well. To be honest, I have no idea what the arbitration committee are really looking for in terms of edits they want to see from a banned user seeking forgiveness, or whether or not they are just messing with us and giving a false sense of hope to avoid confrontation, either way, they have a right to lie to us should they choose to do so. I've never actually heard of anyone successfully making the 6 month offer, have you? If so let me know and I'll try acting more like that user, but I'm starting to think it's just a fairy tale they tell us to appear more forgiving than they actually are. But if you want to keep trying to get back to Wikipedia, than I can help you out by giving you some ideas for pages to edit that no one is going to argue with you over, deleting quotations on works of fiction that violate the limit on quotations are probably the safest bet, followed by a theme page you create, I wouldn't recommend about sections as there's a lot of room to argue about what information about a work is actually worth including. Not editing isn't going to change their mind about letting you back on, as they can ensure you will continue to not edit by maintaining the ban, but making a bunch of superficial edits like typo corrections and trimming pages to meet copyright just might; so if you want to stick around, as another banned user I'd be glad to talk strategies for returning from exile with you and anyone else who wants to make the extra effort of proving they can be trusted again with something everyone is automatically trusted with until they prove otherwise: the privilege of editing Wikipedia and being an unpaid but quasi published encyclopedia author. There's other wikis you could edit instead, but this one seems the most useful in my opinion compared to say wiktionary which has a hard time competing with other dictionaries which already include all the words for a language. Either way, I hope you enjoy not being yelled at on the administrator's notice board anymore. CensoredScribe (talk) 22:18, 12 May 2018 (UTC)
- @CensoredScribe: Yes, you can. I got unblocked after only two months. – Ilovemydoodle (Not a sockpuppet of Antandrus) (talk / e-mail) 18:01, 23 June 2022 (UTC)
