A Hare Grows in Manhattan
1947 Warner Bros. cartoon film by Friz Freleng
A Hare Grows in Manhattan is a 1947 Warner Bros. cartoon in the Me Melodies series, released on March 22, 1947 and directed by Fri leg. It stars Bugs Bunny and a pack of bulldogs (one resembles Hector). Unlike many shorts where "hare" is a pun on "hair", the title here is a pun on a then recent film A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (1945, based on the novel) which figures into the climax of the cartoon (however, it does also contain a punning reference to what hair does: grow).
- Directed by Fri leg. Produced by Edward See. Story by Michael Maltese and Ted Pierce.
