Presumptuous edits to QOTD layouts
editYou certainly have every right to edit pages here, contribute quotes, engage in debate, cast votes based upon your levels of awareness, ignorance and confusion in regard to issues, and many other things, but making changes to major layout pages for the QOTD with no track record of doing so, and no prior authorization or approval to begin doing so is rather overly presumptuous. I am ready to debate and contend with any objections to some of the layouts that have been devised, but if there are major changes to be made there should be something more determining them than an aim at establishing policies enshrining visual and intellectual paucity based on a few comments of one other person with apparently similar objectives on a discussion page. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 05:26, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- @ Thenub314: Please try to be generous in disregarding the ad hominem remarks and presumptions about motivations above. Thank you for recognizing that it was probably not a good idea to act on something that is under discussion at the Village Pump until some conclusion is reached. ~ Ningauble 16:02, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- Prior to Ningauable's remarks about "the ad hominem remarks and presumptions about motivations" — and the implicit derisions they provide, whether explicit or not, my remarks, which were slightly delayed by the above post were precisely these:
- Thank you for your agreement to revert to the previous arrangement on one of your changes to the pages, which I just noticed in a brief checking in here. I know that there can be much room for disagreement about many things betwen people and I certainly do not wish to convey any personal animosity when conflict over issues arise. I only have a brief time presently, and must soon leave, and I hope you do find the project and participation in it interesting and rewarding. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 16:14, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- @Kalki, @Ningauble. I certainly didn't mean to cause waves, I just meant to roll up my sleeves and get to work. Outside of Kalki's comments the other (Ningauble, UDScotts, and by my interpretation comments by Jc-S0CO) seemed to agree there was a bit too much going on visually. But a few things are clear, I have no time or energy for wikidrama at the moment. I will operate by Kalki's suggested procedures:
- On non protected pages which I have no track record of making changes, I shall not make major changes.
- I shall avoid making edits that do not have prior authorization to make.
- Obvious catch 22's aside, this way I am sure to keep out of Kalki's hair, and I don't have to listen to (erm.. maybe that should be read) comments about my horrendous layouts or the paucity of my intellect. Kalki's remarks at the village pump and pure revert of my edits make it clear quote of the day is his, by virtue of the long having done the work. I was, for a time, happy to help. Now again the work may be his to enjoy in solitude. Thenub314 18:00, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- PS @Kalki Just to be clear, your layout's are quite artistic and the images you select are quite appropriate. While I think the layouts are too busy for the task at hand, I fully recognize your artistic talent clearly outstrips my own.Thenub314 18:04, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

FYI
editHello, Thenub314, I hope you are doing well. ;) I have preserved an easy-to-access subpage, as a record of the standing restrictions against Kalki (talk · contributions), which came out of your initial proposal. See User:Kalki/Restrictions. Cheers, -- Cirt (talk) 05:41, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
- I had made no attempt to contact anyone on their user pages in a campaign for votes for my adminship, but as Cirt seems to have contacted you to persuade you to accept what I consider to be foul and fallacious presumptions against me, I will provide a relative brief comment in my own defense, and state that further commentary on this matter can also be found at the current discussions of the Village pump, and in the permanent archives among my user pages: 2011 Contentions. Cirt's attempts and present successes at defamation have definitely been an irritation and a burden to me, and I truly believe he takes a rather absurd delight in indulging an absurd malice against me, the events reaching an atrocious level in what I refer to as outrages of Autumn 2010. I truly have always wished to serve this project, and have never done anything to deliberately harm it or abuse whatever powers I have had. I will only state here that much of the material on my account pages which I contend Cirt has maliciously defaced, including the most recent spate of blocks which seem to be meant to imply I had broken my past agreements, which I have NOT, is preserved for scrutiny at Restorations. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 11:29, 23 May 2011 (UTC)
- It is not disputed fact that Kalki was restricted to one account, by imposition of the community.
- Kalki refused to disclose all of his sock accounts.
- The only time Kalki admittedly confirmed these as his own sock accounts, publicly, was after they had already been exposed and blocked as socks.

- Hi Cirt, I am doing well, except that i have been sucked into editing WP again. Why I could be so foolish I'll never know. Thanks for the FYI.
- Hi Kalki, I will make sure to keep an open mind and read everything carefully. Thenub314 15:47, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Hoyt's formatting
editThanks for your work on this massive undertaking! BD2412 T 13:41, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
- My pleasure to help. Also, if you notice anyways my formatting can be improved, let me know. Thenub314 20:11, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
I have received a private e-mail you sent to me on Friday. It is not my habit to discuss such matters off-wiki, but if you would care to post your inquiry openly, on-wiki then I would be happy to reply. ~ Ningauble 13:16, 22 October 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for replying. I wanted to attempt to protect the privacy of the subject of the email. Which is why it did not say much about why I was asking. Eventually I decided I should just disclose my reasons for asking to the CU's, and trusted them to use the information appropriately. Thenub314 00:10, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
- Understood. I think that was the right course. ~ Ningauble 14:11, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
