Introduction
editThe introduction's focus on some particular usages of the word may not be an appropriate definition of the concept. Here is what my dictionary says about the word, in full: "Courteous, respectful, or ingratiating regard for another's wishes. syn: see Honor". It does not always entail, and several quotations in this article do not reflect or refer to, a position of inferiority. ~ Ningauble (talk) 19:27, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
- I agree that the intro should be revised for the more general use of the word, without connotations to any forms of rank. I would revise it myself, but must be leaving very soon, and don’t have time to do much more than agree right now. ~ ♞☤☮♌Kalki·†·⚓⊙☳☶⚡ 19:58, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
- Ended up trimming the thing now, after all, in a way I believe appropriate. I was surprised to see that the rather limited and fallacious definition which was here is the one currently used at Wikipedia. ~ ♞☤☮♌Kalki·†·⚓⊙☳☶⚡ 20:09, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
- Well, it is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit. It is not uncommon for people there to cite sources that have a narrow perspective without realizing that it is a narrow perspective. ~ Ningauble (talk) 20:21, 31 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the changes made. I went strictly by wikipedia article as the source for the lead.--Nvvchar (talk) 07:49, 1 April 2014 (UTC)
