Derek_Malone-France edit

Hi Robin Loup,

Like you I have no particular interest in this article, but I do have an interest in keeping @User: Peter1c active at enwq.

Just thought I would drop by and ask you if you have seen any progress on the restoration of this article. I thought restoring articles that have been removed by a PROD is supposed to be painless, but this one is turning into a very long story involving a lot of effort by a lot of Users, unless I am missing something? Ottawahitech (talk) 14:44, 18 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ottawahitech: There is a draft on how to restore articles WQ:DRV, and although is a draft the official deletion policy states that "Deleted pages can be restored, by administrators, if and only if there is support on Wikiquote:Deletion review, or the page was speedily deleted out-of-process." Also, I suppose that you should ask to the admin that deleted the article. Robin Loup (talk) 18:13, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for responding.
FYI when we were discussing the deletion of Derek_Malone-France on Peter1c's talk page, @User:Ferien said he would ask other wq-admins on AN about it, which he did . Unfortunately no admin has responded so far, guess they are all too busy attending to other important matters on WQ or elsewhere. Hopefully we will not have to make a formal request at WQ: Deletion review ( DRV) just to have the article restored to mainspace, now that we know this person is notable.
BTW I personally have not had much luck having speedied/prodded articles restored at DRV IIRC Ottawahitech (talk) 19:22, 21 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ottawahitech: Maybe you should ask for comments on the matter in the Village Pump, so other editors can weight on the matter. Wikis are driven by consensus and they need the involvement of the community for achieve it. Robin Loup (talk) 00:14, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Robin Loup & Ottawahitech: I just happened by this as I was looking at addressing new articles in without a sitelink, did a minor fix to Mirai (film) and left it on my watchlist. I seen it had been tweaked since by Robin and look a glance at his recent contributions. I'm quite familiar with PRODs, AfDs and DRV's on enWP; and getting deleted articles back when appropriate. Processes here are not quite the same but if you'd like me to raise the DRV for Derek_Malone-France, deleted by UDScott (Proposed deletion: Not sufficiently notable) I'm certainly prepared to look at that. Note per Wikiquote:Proposed deletion: Any deletion via this (PROD) process which is taken to deletion review is implicitly a contested deletion, and the article may therefore be immediately restored by any administrator without discussion.. In practice I would interpret may as will normally be immediately restored unless there are very good reasons otherwise or the request is simply trivial or a speedie deletion candidate or someother BLP reason. However the restoring admin will likely initiate a VFD for a contested PROD. Overall for a PROD, which is a soft delete in enWP terms, I view the intention to restore the state as if the PROD was contested within the 7-day PROD nomination period. I'd like to to check my view on the notability first though as best practice as presenting that may also avoid VFD which is best avoided unless your an experienced inclusionist nutter like me ... and even then its best avoided. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 03:30, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
The Wikidata item has been mentioned above. While there are no links to other wikis there are references to various identifiers such as GND ID and VIAF ID, I note his book Deep Empiricism and WorldCat notes more books. I believe this is more than adequate to call for a deletion review on a notability PROD, especially as an option can be to transform a bio article to a book article if only one book is mentioned in the Wikiquote article. To summarise I'm happy to raise a DRV to contest this PROD if either of you guys don't feel comfortable doing so. I'd suggest Ottawahitech that you raise it and I'll commit to backing you up providing I don't catch a routemaster bus the wrong way and you somehow manage to avoid any hint of a personal attack on the way - so if you want to see how I will raise this as an example you are welcome (actually I don't have a clue where to exactly start but i'll see what I make of Wikiquote:Deletion review). -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 03:58, 23 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Ottawahitech & Robin. I have boldly determined to take ownership of the DRV request in order to keep momentum. I will report here when it is raised. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 01:37, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have raised the DRV at Wikiquote:Deletion review#Derek Malone-France. Please subscribe to that if you need to know the outcome. Thankyou. -- User:Djm-leighpark(a)talk 01:56, 24 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Djm-leighpark, Thanks it looks like Derek Malone-France is back in business. I wonder if we will have the manpower required to restore other pages deleted as prods. Hopefully this will encourage @User: Peter1c to continue contributing. Ottawahitech (talk) 17:35, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
