Episodes edit

Elseworlds, part one [The Flash episode 5.09] edit

John Deegan: What are you?
The Monitor: Something beyond your comprehension. I've travelled far to this place and time to lay this precious burden at your feet. Use this book to reshape the world as you see fit. Show them what a real god can do, John. [hands the Book of Destiny over to Deegan.]
Deegan: Why me?
The Monitor: You have vision. That book holds the key to your transformation, John, and all you have to do... is open it. [Deegan opens the book.] Use it wisely, John. The universe is in your hands.
Deegan: [transfixed and nearly overwhelmed] I can... I can... I can see everything.
The Monitor: A word of advice.... Think big.

Oliver Queen: [highly agitated] Just focus for just a second and take this seriously, because the world thinks that you're Oliver Queen and that I'm Barry Allen, and I would really like to know why! Is that cool? Thank you.
Barry Allen: Okay. I'm sorry. [sees an altered wedding photo showing Iris and Oliver] Weird. [sees a tabloid showing him as Star City mayor] Hey! Mayor!
Oliver: [flustered] Can you... just for ninety seconds of seriousness...
Barry: You gotta admit, this is a little cool.
Oliver: I will find it a lot cooler when I wake up in my own bed tomorrow morning.
Barry: You woke up in bed with Iris?
Oliver: Mm-hmm.
Barry: [suddenly serious] We have to fix this right now !!

Oliver: I've been doing this for a very long time. And nearly every time that I learn a lesson, it comes with a painful memory. I've watched friends die. I've had to kill to survive. When I'm the Green Arrow, I channel those painful memories. I... I draw on a darkness every time I draw back my bow. So to see you with all of my abilities just laughing and joking around, it pissed me off! [calmer] More than I would care to admit.
Barry: Whenever I run, whatever I'm feeling inside - grief, guilt - I've gotta just let it go. And focus on whatever I'm running toward. Iris. My friends. All the joy in my life. When I'm happy, I run faster. [realizing] Just like when you phased earlier. You were having a good time.
Oliver: Couldn't dislocate your thumb until you got angry. [sighs] If you're gonna be the Green Arrow and I'm gonna be the Flash,...
Barry: Maybe we need to start acting more like each other.

Iris West: I need you to promise me something, Barry. Promise me that when we figure out who did this to you, and when you get your speed back, and you're finally back in my arms... that you'll come back to me.
Barry: Of course I'll come back.
Iris: Barry, I heard what you said right before you took that shot. You're the Green Arrow now. But please don't become Oliver Queen.
Barry: I won't. I promise.

[Cisco shares with Barry and Oliver his vibe-vision of The Monitor's encounter with Deegan, only for The Monitor to face them.]
The Monitor: [speaking directly] Fascinating. I wouldn't have thought the men of this Earth had this capacity. But it won't avail you. None of you can stop what's been set into motion. You're best off giving up now. Because nothing you can do can alter... what's about to happen.

Elseworlds, part two [Arrow episode 7.09] edit

John Diggle: An immortal Egyptian, aliens, parallel-Earth Nazis. I have no idea why I'm not even surprised at this point.
Curtis Holt: I'm still trying to figure out if this is more like Freaky Friday or Quantum Leap.
Barry: No, if this were like Quantum Leap, I'd only look like myself in the mirror.
Curtis: Yep. You are definitely not Oliver Queen.

Oliver: Oliver Queen is a public figure and an infamous vigilante. If you're in Gotham City, you're attracting the type of attention that we don't want.
Barry: No, if Gotham can handle the Batman, they can handle the Green Arrow.
Oliver: The Batman's an urban legend.
Barry: Wait. You don't believe Batman's real?
Oliver: He's not real. He's an urban legend concocted by the Gotham police department to scare criminals. I'm the original vigilante, Barry!

Kara Danvers: I'm sorry about the third degree earlier. I guess the name "Bruce Wayne" carries a... certain notoriety.
Kate Kane: Oh, I know. Bruce Wayne's my cousin.
Kara: Your cousin? That makes a lot of sense.
Kate: Actually, I'm in the process of turning this building into a real estate development firm. So this is me hijacking his office.
Kara: My cousin's actually friends with Bruce. Uh, well,... frenemies. Do you ever wonder if trying to keep his private life from the public eye just got to be too much for him, and he... broke?
Kate: Sitting at that desk, staring out that window, watching this city that we grew up in rot at its core.... You find a way to not break. Bruce didn't leave Gotham without a fight.

Batwoman: I don't do tearful good-byes.
Supergirl: No, I, I just wanted to wish you luck. Wherever your cousin is, I'm sure he's really proud of you. [off Batwoman's look] X-ray vision. You really do have a lot of tattoos.
Batwoman: And somehow, I feel like Kara Danvers doesn't have a single one.
Supergirl: You know, it's such a shame I have to go, 'cause I feel like we would make a good team.
Batwoman: World's finest. [They shake hands.]

Barry: We both saw some stuff back at Arkham.
Oliver: I saw Evil Flash.
Barry: Eobard Thawne. I saw Malcolm Merlyn. I knew you'd been through a lot, but.... I don't know, man, I never realized. I don't know how you do it. I wouldn't be able to live with the burdens that you carry.
Oliver: Yes, you would. Barry, I always thought that you had it easy. Everything was just sunshine and rainbows, and... everybody likes you. You have real steel in you, my friend. You can carry any burden thrown your way.

Elseworlds, part three [Supergirl episode 4.09] edit

Opening voiceover
My name is John Deegan, and I'm from Gotham. A city in grave need of heroes. As a doctor in Arkham Asylum, I did my part by protecting this city from the criminally insane. But the world didn't understand my methods. So I worked in secret until one day, when a cosmic being recognized my potential and gave me to be something greater. Someone great. [transforms into a version of Superman] Now, I am... Superman.

Oliver: The Monitor gave you the Book back?
Deegan-Superman: And showed me how to really use it.
Barry: Can't just write yourself as a hero. It doesn't work that way.
Deegan-Superman: Doesn't it, though? You were struck by lightning, I was given the Book. By a higher power. Both random acts of chance. This... this is my destiny. So much more than becoming the Flash was ever yours.
Barry: But people don't become heroes because of circumstance. They become heroes in spite of circumstance.
Oliver: You're just a cheap knock-off.

The Monitor: So much passion -- and hubris -- to think that if you just yell loud enough, you can command a god.
Oliver: You're not a god.
The Monitor: Yet there isn't a name for what I am, so I suppose "god" will have to do. Your time is limited. I'm not sure what little remains is best spent making demands of me. I already told you what you had to do.
Oliver: I know what happens to Barry and Kara.
The Monitor: Hmmm. Now you're here in a faint hope I can alter it.
Oliver: Well, you just said you were a god. Now I don't think you're testing us to see if we're strong enough. I think you're testing us to see if we're good enough. And I don't think in any of the universes you've tested, that anyone has ever stood and confronted you like this.
The Monitor: Yes. You are the first in a multitude.
Oliver: I'm not who you need! You said I'd pass the test if I knew my true self? My true self is filled with darkness. But Barry and Kara are different. They inspire hope. They inspire people because they are the best of us. And if this test of yours is gonna kill our best chance of stopping this crisis,.... Well, as gods go,... you're not a very smart one.
The Monitor: The universe is a complex piece of machinery and balance must be maintained. One change requires another. How would you propose I keep the balance?

Superman: Barry and Kara.... You had more faith than I did.
Oliver: Well, I don't know Kara as well as I know Barry. But when things get tough, he doesn't slow down. He digs deep and runs faster.
Superman: That's my cousin to a T.
[Barry and Kara arrive together on the plaza at super-speed, exhausted but uninjured. They do a fist bump.]
Oliver: Then you know why I had faith in them.

[Team Supergirl prepares to leave Earth-1.]
Kara: Cisco? Would you do the honors?
Cisco Ramon: Anything for my favorite Kryptonian. That's right, I have a favorite Kryptonian.
Querl "Brainy" Dox: Yes. A good choice.
[Cisco opens a portal to Earth-38, and Team Supergirl gathers in front of it.]
Kara: [to the others] Well,... until next time. [makes the "Peace Out" sign, which Barry returns] Peace out, from your favorite Kryptonian. [Team Supergirl leaves for Earth-38.]

Barry: So I feel I should be thanking you for something. The Monitor. You talked to him, didn't you?
Oliver: Mm-hmm.
Barry: You got him to change our destinies somehow?
Oliver: You and Kara changed your destinies, Barry, by being the heroes that you always have been. Hey! I've been you. I lived it, I felt it. You're a good man.
Barry: So are you. Even if you don't want people to believe it.
Oliver: I'm not as good as you think I am. But because of you,... I think I'll get there someday.

Legends of Tomorrow edit

Legends of Tomorrow [4.8]

Nate Heywood: Gideon. Any messages while we were gone?
Gideon: You missed calls from Barry Allen, Oliver Queen and Kara Zor-El.
Ray Palmer: Sounds like the annual crossover.
Nate: Ugh. Yeah, that's gonna be a hard pass.

Hey, World! [4.16]

[Legends members have just shot a commercial for the Heyworld theme park dressed as Supergirl, Green Arrow and the Flash.]
Zari Tomaz: Uh, guys, I feel that would've worked a little bit better with the real Trinity.
Sara Lance: Yeah, well, I asked and they said [looks at Nate] "Hard pass".
Nate: [sheepish] We shoulda done the crossover.
Sara: Yeah.
