Film article formatting

Thank you for your work on several musical and musical film articles. Please note that I have made some formatting changes and added additional material to My Fair Lady as an example of Wikiquote's style for film articles, which is a good model to follow for non-film musicals as well. (More details are given at Wikiquote:Templates#Films.) Might I ask you to apply this formatting to your other articles? Thanks for the info! I've tried to change how I work my pages, but I have a question. I'd like to make a page for the Broadway play "Jersey Boys". I've got my description all set up, but I'm not sure what to do about the headlines. I started to make each song a headline, but some of the songs are pretty short, and they're all songs that most people know. I was wondering if it's okay to just put "Songs" as one heading, and "Dialogue" as another. Just let me know what you think, thanks! --Angel 16:28, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

That's pretty much how I reformatted your work on My Fair Lady. (Please also note the avoidance of all-caps, and the preference of wiki formatting over HTML.) We don't really have a formatting guideline for musicals, but it's not unreasonable to want to groups songs separately from the dialog. (A counter-argument would be that we use chronological order of quotes as an informal sourcing mechanism, to make the essential task of verifying quotes easier for editors, but the songs themselves can serve as a kind of "chapter".) Songs should never be headings, because we can't quote much from them without running afoul of either copyright violation or the project purpose of keeping quotes succinct, avoiding substantial transcriptions. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 17:02, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

The short answer is that yes, you or someone else is more than welcome to create a new page in its place with memorable, sourced quotes from notable people. Our "Already deleted" speedy-deletion case is typically only applied when a previously-deleted page is recreated without substantial changes; a new page with sourced quotes would certainly represent a substantial change from the deleted version. —LrdChaos (talk) 20:56, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
