Welcome! edit

Hello, De Wikischim, and welcome to the English Wikiquote.

Enjoy! ---Atcovi (Talk - Contribs) 21:59, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Note on your page creations edit

Hallo. Nice to see you from nl.wikibooks. Please remember to add stubs to pages that don't have a lot of quotes (maybe 5 or more aren't stubs), you can see specific stubs here: Category:Stub Templates. Remember to add an "External Link" section as well ontop of {{wikipedia}} and {{commonscat}}. As well: Add your new created pages to Template:New pages. Dank je en welkom op het Engels Wikiquote! ---Atcovi (Talk - Contribs) 22:01, 6 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Atcovi, thanks for reminding. De Wikischim (talk) 08:13, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thank you edit

Thank you for correcting my poor English and you are right in leaving Wikiquote-NL. Did you know Whaledad started to send me emails that I have a Bipolar disorder? Realy! He was shure about it!
After Whaledad blockt me when I defended myself against the autistic troll Chris/CaAL/Vinvlught/Bleuknight/Savh on Wikiquote-NL. After years and years hard working on Wikiquote-NL of both of us! And the first thing "Vinvlught" was doing was atacking you one Wikiqoute_NL when he started editing there and Whaledad did nothing to help you! And it all ended up that Whaledad chanced in a crazy dictator, I am blockt and you left and the project is completly death! (Don't think "Vinvlught" is still editing there, the "job" is finished.) And here, User:DanielTom started to say I am a troll because the sokpopmaster "CaAL" blocked me on Meta with his sokpupped Savh! Because I was to critical! But enough is enough, I have left this wiki-madhouse. For ever! Beste regards and good luck here. , Graaf Statler (talk) 12:04, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Bolding text edit

Hi De Wikischim, thanks for your contributions. Maybe it helps to explain, that I learned that there are some typical habits/guidelines regarding bolding text here. Whole articles and single quotes don't get bolded for the sake of consistency. One guideline Ningauble has already expressed, that "if nearly everything is bold then nothing stands out." Other guidelines are "no random bolding," and "bold the most familiar phrases." Best regards, -- Mdd (talk) 16:17, 8 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mdd, OK, thanks for explaining this. However, I think the corresponding part in the source text should in this case be highlighted as well. I have done so now. De Wikischim (talk) 09:42, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Again you propose an alternative logic for highlighting text, which I think is also uncommon here. You must know these kind of changes are controversial, and frankly I don't understand. Why create controversy when there is so much normal work to be done here. -- Mdd (talk) 09:49, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I for my part do not understand well why you must react immediately this way. Greets, De Wikischim (talk) 09:53, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

rev War edit

Hey there, it wasn't random, see admin board as well as Special:Contributions/Mdd. --CCCVCCCC (talk) 11:02, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Unaware of this discussion I already undid the rev, explaining in the edit summary. -- Mdd (talk) 10:59, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
The removal on War had nothing to do with YouTube (I fully agree that YouTube shouldn't be used as a valid source here). De Wikischim (talk) 11:02, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
You should perhaps continue to read the linked discussion past its title. Quoting YouTube is merely the tip of an iceberg of said editor including quotes by random people. Not just non-notable albeit actual people, but anonymous discussion board messages etc. --CCCVCCCC (talk) 11:04, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
@De Wikischim. There is (much) more to it, because this situation has been going on for over at least month (and involves multiple users). Now, assessing Illegitimate Barrister's contributions to over 100 of thematic articles yesterday, I also noticed he has been POV pushing several not-notable and (less) notable people, and the war-quote was an example of this. -- Mdd (talk) 11:08, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
OK, that's quite a different story. You may of course be absolutely right in this. It was just the edit by CCCVCCCC on War which struck me, as I saw no compelling reason to delete a well-sourced quote. But it may be an example of POV pushing indeed (which is often difficult to recognize). De Wikischim (talk) 11:17, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I removed the same quote yesterday, see here for similar reasons. The quote has a google-rate of 7 and google-book-rate of 0, and was added to 2 main lemma's (and the author doesn't meet notability criteria)... and the quote was listed twice in the lemma's. -- Mdd (talk) 11:25, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
Regarding that, I think there's still quite a lot of cleaning up to do here... I believe everyone here agrees more or less that quotes which are not cited elsewhere at all or not in a notable source should not be added here. (Some months ago, I tried to start a discussion on this here in the village pump. Maybe you're interested?) De Wikischim (talk) 11:30, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
You are most welcome to participate here. As to that discussion, I think the common understanding here indeed is: notable author, notable source, notable content and/or available secondary sources. -- Mdd (talk) 11:39, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
