Can you resist it, Kalki?

My suggestion. ~ DanielTom (talk) 14:47, 17 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

It is preoccupation with possession, more than anything else, that prevents men from living freely and nobly.

Actually, I believe I may have had something along those lines in mind, and I did resist it, in favor of another quote by Russell, with simpler imagery:

A stupid man's report of what a clever man says is never accurate, because he unconsciously translates what he hears into something that he can understand.

I liked the play of inverted imagery in relation to quite divergent meanings in association with the symbols used and the quotes applicability to their perceived or unperceived relationships and to quotations available in the past or future; I do like to add often obscure humor to my selection processes, and next year saw opportunities of using something along the lines you propose, perhaps retaining some references to Astraea. I was just briefly checking in here, and found your comment worthy of a response, but I have to be leaving soon, and might not do much more here today. ~ Kalki·· 15:12, 17 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Astraea? Well, yes, I remember this QOTD. I very much liked it (but then again, I seem to like anything with Russell on it). Cheers ~ DanielTom (talk) 15:24, 17 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
