Talk:John Marshall
Andrew Jackson attribution
editThe Jackson quote isn't about Cherokee Nation, but Worcester v. Georgia. The attribution here conflicts with the wikipedia article on the case. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worcester_v._Georgia "In a popular quotation that is believed to be apocryphal, President Andrew Jackson reportedly responded: "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!" This derives from Jackson's comments on the case in a letter to John Coffee, "...the decision of the Supreme Court has fell still born, and they find that they cannot coerce Georgia to yield to its mandate," (that is, the Court's opinion because it had no power to enforce its edict)." —This unsigned comment is by 71.88.105.240 (talk • contribs) .
Johnson v M'Intosh
editI actually thought Marshall's most famous quote was "Conquest gives a title which the courts of the conqueror cannot deny." From Johnson v M'Intosh (1823). Was this excluded for a reason?
