Thanks. Very complicated, but fun
Using edit toolbar styles
editI noticed some technical glitches in your recent post at Talk:Mitt Romney#Who is/is not notable is individual editor's POV.. You twice attempted to italicize a phrase by pressing the "I" icon, then typing the text, then pressing the "I" icon again. Instead, try selecting the text to italicize in the edit window, then pressing the icon once, which will surround the text with the appropriate wiki markup. Pressing the button without selected text adds an example piece of formatted text ("Italic text" in the case of the "I" icon), which is not what you wanted of course. (You can read more about these iconic functions at Help:Edit toolbar.)
You should also "Show preview" your edits before saving, especially when you're a new wikian. This allows you to inspect your post (or article edit) to ensure you've written and formatted your information correctly. (Incidentally, I'm a firm believer in always previewing, as even old hands like myself can and do make mistakes.)
I hope you find this information useful. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 21:25, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
