Deletion?

edit

Coming up with an acceptable article is not going to be easy. Looks like Ann Landers was several people over decades. The Wikipedia article was started in 2002 and its source is now dead: https://www.creators.com/lifestyle_Shell.cfm?pg=biography.html&columnsname=ala[dead link]

The dilemma for me is: should I put time and effort into this, only to see my efforts disappear since this is now in Category:All articles proposed for deletion, instead of working on much easier subjects?

Even writing this entry here took away time I could have put into something else on wikiquote that is more assured of survival.Ottawahitech (talk)

All that is really needed to save this page is to find a quote that can be sourced (best case would be to source it to a specific publication in which it appeared, but it could also be one that is referenced in another work). Even one of these will be enough. ~ UDScott (talk) 17:04, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for chiming in @UDScott:. My problem is that when I google "Ann Landers" I only get urls where quotes are not sourced. However, today when I googled "Ann Landers" I got a new entry at the top of my search https://www.creators.com/read/classic-ann-landers, but it is dated November 15, 2020? You could try Google Books rather than the web search, or you could search topical items like the great toilet paper controversy where Ann Landers opines prominently. ~ Ningauble (talk) 16:59, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Ningauble: Thanks for the tips, but from where I stand, there is not much point in putting energy into an article that is doomed for deletion when there are other easier targets to work on. Even less point in discussion here that will also disappear unless someone can step in and save this article. Ottawahitech (talk) 18:38, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
