Saturday
Saturday is the day of the week following Friday and preceding Sunday. Saturday is the seventh and therefore last day of the week according to many commonly used calendars, and it is the second-to-last (sixth) day of the week according to ISO 8601. The Romans named Saturday Sāturni diēs ("Saturn's Day") no later than the 2nd century for the planet Saturn, which controlled the first hour of that day, according to Vettius Valens. The day's name was introduced into West Germanic languages and is recorded in the Low German languages such as Middle Low German sater(s)dach, Middle Dutch saterdag (Modern Dutch zaterdag) and Old English Sætern(es)dæġ and Sæterdæġ. However, the name was selected as a calque of the god Saturn, after whom the planet was named. The day was also referred to as "Sæternes dæġe" in an Old English translation of Bede's Ecclesiastical History of the English People. In Old English, Saturday was also known as sunnanæfen ("sun" + "eve" cf. dialectal German Sonnabend). Sunday is the last creative day. God rested on the seventh day. - Fap
Quotes
edit- On Saturday night, I would see men lusting after half-naked girls dancing at the carnival, and on Sunday morning when I was playing organ for tent-show evangelists at the other end of the carnival lot, I would see these same men sitting in the pews with their wives and children, asking God to forgive them and purge them of carnal desires. And the next Saturday they'd be back at the carnival or some other place of indulgence.
I knew then that the Christian church thrives on hypocrisy, and that man's carnal nature will out!

Vernon: You just bought yourself another Saturday.
John: Ooh, I'm crushed.

Vernon': Good, 'cause it's going to be filled! We'll keep going. You want another one? Just say the word say it. Instead of going to prison, you'll come here. Are you through?
John: No.
Vernon: I'm doing society a favour.
John: So?
Vernon: That's another one right now! I've got you for the rest of your natural born life if you don't watch your step. You want another one?
John: Yes.
Vernon: You got it! You got another one right there! That's another one, pal!
Claire Standish: Cut it out!
Vernon: You through?
John: Not even close, bud!
Vernon: Good! You got one more right there!
John: You really think I give a shit?
Vernon: Another! You through?
John: How many is that?
Brian Ralph Johnson: That's seven including when we first came in and you asked Mr. Vernon whether Barry Manilow knew that he raided his closet.
Vernon: Now it's eight. You stay out of this.
Brian: Excuse me, sir, it's seven.
