Wikiquote:Request a template

From Aristotle on Wikisource

edit

Something like this should autolink to the public domain wikisource version.

wikisource|Author:Aristotle|Metaphysics|I|980a.21 Jaredscribe (talk) 02:48, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That way all the references on Aristotle could be followed, so that we could read the context of his quote. The same or similar template could be used for all public domain works that are organized according to chapter, verse, tractate, section, etc. Jaredscribe (talk) 02:50, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This seems a bit arcane as a template: maybe just linking directly would work? —Justin (koavf)TCM 03:54, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Jaredscribe, not sure what you are asking for. There is a link in the External links section of Aristotle to the English WikiSource. Does it not work properly? Ottawahitech (talk) 19:51, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Template might be nice for adding this links, but the regular link works, as @Koavf states. For example:
I propose adding these for every wikiquote possible; @Ottawahitech it makes it one click rather than four or five clicks to get the source; much easier for readers, many of whom will never scroll down to the bottom of the page to find the the external link.
Thanks for helping! This is a great way to learn something significant and new. Jaredscribe (talk) 18:36, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed that linking between sources in Wikisource and Wiktionary is handy and should be encouraged. —Justin (koavf)TCM 10:23, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
