editThere are already quotes on Impeachment of Donald Trump that are related to testimony presented in the Second impeachment trial of Donald Trump. It's not clear what criteria there is for placing quotes on one page or the other, and it appears that it might be easier to combine the two into a single page, perhaps with subsections for the first vs the second impeachment. ~ UDScott (talk) 18:10, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- Please note that there are separate articles in Wikipedia: First impeachment of Donald Trump, First impeachment trial of Donald Trump, Second impeachment of Donald Trump, Second impeachment of Donald Trump, Second impeachment trial of Donald Trump. I am simply following that format. These topics have plenty of material to warrant separate articles. Quotes by arbitrary people about a topic of current interest might well deserve to be separate from government, or legal representatives and authorities officially assigned to specific and historic legal proceedings and to matters of formal and historic debate regarding issues critical to a Democratic Republic. - Maybe I'm not being clear - I do not mind having separate pages for these topics, but it appears that quotes related to each of them have become commingled and either we should form one page, with subsections, or go through the quotes on each page and be sure they apply to (or are from the time of) the appropriate topic. Then they should be reviewed on a regular basis to be sure the right page is used for quotes that are added. ~ UDScott (talk) 21:22, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- And also, the intro for the Impeachment of Donald Trump speaks about both the first and second impeachments. If we want to separate them, the intros should reflect this. ~ UDScott (talk) 21:23, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- Impeachments (either the House procedure or the generalized term) are not the same as Impeachment trials (Senate). If you feel that the Intro to the "Impeachment of Donald Trump" article needs work, that is your prerogative. I appreciate and thank you for your diligence and hard work. - That is all well and good and I get that they are separate events. I will try again to explain. The last several quotes that appear on this page appear to be the direct result of and reaction to what was shown in the Second impeachment trial. As such, one could surmise that they should perhaps be moved to the page for that event (in the About section perhaps) or even on the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol page, since they refer to the events that occurred on that day, but were only seen recently in the trial.. The fact that these pages exist and that there is likely to be overlap between them could cause confusion is all that I was saying. And one way around that would be to combine them into one page. If we continue to keep them as separate pages, I would expect that a considerable amount of review and oversight would be needed to keep these pages accurately reflecting their topics.

- To that end, if that is the way we go, I would be specific in the intros that the quotes on the Second impeachment trial of Donald Trump refer only to quotes uttered in the trial itself, not the events being discussed in the trial. The Impeachment of Donald Trump refers to quotes about the process of impeachment, and the 2021 storming of the United States Capitol page should specify that it contains quotes about the events that precipitated all this. Again, all of this brings it back to my original point: having multiple pages about these events (each with their own specific scope) can be confusing and either we should bring them together or be more specific about that scope on each of the individual pages. ~ UDScott (talk) 22:01, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
- @UDScott, ELApro: I think an article merger is premature. Why not let both articles run concurrently and develop. We can decide later if the articles should be merged. Right now this topic is hot in the media which means: it gets lots of coverage AND there is a lot of potential for WQ to increase readership and to recruit new volunteers. In the meantime wikisource may also be collecting publicly available information. Just my $.02 Ottawahitech (talk) 23:18, 11 February 2021 (UTC)
