Help:Self link
This is a copy of the master help page at m:Help:Self link. Do not edit this page. Edits will be lost in the next update from the master page. Either edit the master help page for all projects at Meta, or edit the project-specific text at Template:Ph:Self link. You are welcome to copy the exact wikitext from the master page at Meta and paste it into this page at any time.
A self link is a link to the page itself. It appears as bold text when the article is viewed ("self-link feature"). Examples:
- Help:Self link gives Help:Self link
- piped self link gives piped self link
An indirect self link is a link to a page that redirects back. In this case the self-link feature does not work, even though the feature would be equally useful here; if you are viewing the master copy on Meta of this help page then this is demonstrated here:
Also, when the prefix for the project itself is added (interwiki link style, but again linking to the page itself) the self-link feature does not work; if you are viewing the master copy on Meta of this help page then this is demonstrated here:
- m:Help:Self link gives m:Help:Self link
Self-link to a section
editFor a link to a section of the same article, even from the same section, the self-link feature does not work: Help:Self link#Self-link to a section.
