I think the current content is not so inappropriate, though no one seems to be able to answer. Would anyone oppose to remove {{delete}} tag from this document? --Aphaia 07:01, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Archiving

I recently created our first archive for the WQ reference desk, but ran into a dilemma: How do we decide when to retire a question? If it's been answered definitively, we might reasonably leave it in place for a short time and then archive it. But if there is no definitive answer, how long should it stay on the main page? And when we do get around to archiving these unfinished questions, where do we place them in the archive? In original chronological order? In chronological order from last response, or from archive date? Should we divide the archive into sections for "Answered", "Unanswered", and possibly others? What are the two hyphens for if the four tildes alread give name AND date?

From instructions: "Please sign your question by typing - - ~ ~ ~ ~ (that's two hyphens and four tildes) at the end. This will stamp the date and time and your user ID on your posting." What are the -- for if the tildes already give name and date??? Shir-El too 11:28, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Some of the subject lines aren't meaningful. Is it wrong to change them to something more meaningful if I'm not the one who asked the question? --Sultec 19:01, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
