Moshe - This looks good to me. It offers a concise, systematic checklist for looking at new articles. My only nit-picky comment regards the step where you suggest adding the link to WP at either the top or bottom of the page. I usually put it at the bottom, under the heading of "External links" Isn't this fairly standard? If so, shouldn't this guide specify putting the link at the bottom, rather than at the top? I know it's nit-picking, but otherwise I think it's great! UDScott 21:25, 10 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

Nit-picking is welcomed! However, there is reason to the madness: this is intended to be a "10 second guide": if you do only the minimum, and you did need to edit the article, chances are, the article ends up looking like crap. That's ok, because in that case, before editing, it was actually worse crap :) So keep in mind that this guide is "making crap slightly better", not "making good articles", and the guide aims to help one accomplish it in 10 seconds. This is because we often neglect newpage patrol, and after a week you end up with 50 articles which need to be fixed: even at 10 seconds each, it is a mind-numbing 8 minutes, and if it's any more, chances are you'll give up :) This kept in mind, I often don't have the energy to actually put in a real introduction in the article: in those cases, a wikipedia box at the top serves as a kind of stop-gap introduction (in all those cases, I add a cleanup tag). I've edited the page to clarify this now, and thanks for allowing me to use an edit summary which I've never thought I'd use until editing a BDSM article :) ~ MosheZadka (Talk) 21:38, 10 November 2005 (UTC)Reply
