Bold?

Is there some good reason that all the quotes are bold? -[deltalima]

It was to give typographic contrast between the quotes and the quoted. I debolded the quotes and italicased the quoted. Revert if not good... --The Merciful 17:22, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

Format suggestion

I suggest level-2 headers for runs of 10 issues, and inside to use TV-like formatting, as shown below. If nobody will object, I will move everything to this format soon. Thanks ~ MosheZadka (Talk) 13:24, 17 November 2005 (UTC)

I removed the example I put here since a better example is on the page :)

I used a variant on the TV format, and used a custom TOC. I believe this format is a good way to present quotations from OOTS, and quite possibly other webcomics. Thanks ~ MosheZadka (Talk) 19:56, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

Haley's cryptograms

There was a time when haley was unable to speak normally, Someone on the forums on OTS translated everything she said. It could be interesting to post it here.

I think the translations would be appropriate to include for any quoted dialogue where Haley is speaking in cryptograms. But a complete list of all the translations would be a bit much. 71.203.209.0 00:54, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Strip 393

It's Nale who says "Angry enough to kill, even..." Fits in with his last quotes, which are "Doesn't that just make you so... angry?" and "Very, very angry..." He's trying to get Elan to kill Haley.

Way too many quotes

There's too much material quted here without too much material. Okay the original is freely accessible online, but we must be quoting about a fifth of the actial text of the comic.--Peter cohen 18:02, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

As nobody else has done anything, I have now cut out nearly everything. It happenned that teh last entry was memorable. I'm going to reinstate Sexy Shoeless of of War. But most of what was there is just repeating the jokes and breaking Rich's copyright. Anything restored must be punchy and memorable even to people who don't follow OOTS.--Peter cohen 20:02, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

I agree that the page had a lot of extraneous material. However, erasing practically the entire page is not the right way to go about it. If you really want to prune something, just do it little by little, Or all at once, like I just did. Either way, I reverted it, but I pared the article down to about 25 KBs of data. I think that is entirely reasonable for over 600 strips worth of material. Also, I adjusted the table of contents, making each category considerably larger (50 strips apiece, instead of just 10). --216.234.100.151 06:27, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

I trimmed the article fairly drastically again, this time to 12 quotes. UDScott asked, on my talk page, "Where did you arrive at the figure of 12 quotes for this work? I don't recall that we had actually discussed comics in the various copyright limit discussions (maybe I missed it)." I replied:

"Entirely arbitrary: I just picked 2% of the number of strips as a reasonable approximation, although it is clearly less than the '1.25% of the work' that we are using for print media. I thought the previous trim by Peter cohen went too far, but was closer to the mark than the subsequent re-add by 216.234.100.151. I also disagree somewhat with the latter's comment: I think we should select for inclusion, rather than the other way around.

My edit summary was not intended to set a limit, but to characterize what I did. Considering the amount of text in each full-page strip, I would not have a problem if the article were twice as long. Feel free to add some back." ~ Ningauble 18:11, 9 January 2009 (UTC)
