Transcribing through Edna's accent
editThere is an ongoing battle here involving some of Edna "E" Mode's dialog, made more difficult because of her peculiar (and somewhat variable) accent. Is it "Stratogirl" or "Stratogale"? "Metaman" or "Metalman"? (I can say with some surety that it's "November 15th of '58", not "the '58", because although Edna's enunciation makes either possible, the latter makes no grammatical sense.) Rather than continue to revert each other on this, can someone provide an official source for this spelling? Ideally, this would be a published script or comic book references. (Unofficial fan-based transcriptions are useful for brainstorming, but aren't particularly authoritative.) Any help on this would be appreciated. — Jeff Q (talk) 14:34, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
- Well... there is a complete list of superheroes created for the movie on Disc 2 of the Collectors' Edition. -- 172.170.192.152 06:55, 4 August 2005
- If I had that DVD, I'd be happy to post this documented evidence of the actual names spoken by Edna. Since I don't, can someone who does add that information here as a reference citation to ensure accuracy in this article? Thank you. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 12:46, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
It's Stratogirl and Metalman, I have the DVD. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.78.21.14 (talk • contribs) 14:22, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
- One good summary of the Wikimedia Foundation's philosophy on sourcing might be the old expression: "Trust, but verify." The above anonymous editor, whether they have the DVD or not, is making a false statement. I finally rented the bonus DVD, and the "Top Secret: NSA Files" segment clearly shows the supers' names are "Meta Man" and "Stratogale", which the article now reflects. Just for the record, here is the complete list given in that DVD segment:
- Apogee, Blazestone, Dynaguy, Downburst, Elastigirl, Everseer, Frozone, Gamma Jack, Gazerbeam, Hypershock, Macroburst, Meta Man, Mr. Incredible, The Phylange, Plasmabolt, Psycwave, Splashdown, Stormicide, Stratogale, Thunderhead, Universal Man
- If need be, I can provide screenshots of the files to confirm this. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 10:43, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Cleanup
editI've added a {{cleanup}} tag to this article because there are massive amounts of cumbersome contextual information added to what is supposed to be a quote article. Contexts should be on separate lines, to get out of the way of actual dialog. Only stage directions (1-3 words indicating an action or gesture absolutely required to make sense of the dialog) should be interspersed within a single character's actual words. Anything that doesn't fit this model is almost always inappropriate for a quote compendium, more suited to a transcription or fan website. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 10:35, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
I tried to get rid of the unnecessary contextual information preceding a ton of these quotes. Some of it I felt was required and so left it alone. --Aerodynamicdeskset 18:33, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
January 2017
editI was reading the quotes in the dialogue section, some are inaccurate. Who thinks some of the quotes should be accurate? It is not vandalism or violating copyright, it is just an improvement. --86.12.177.189 06:53, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Far from an improvement. WikiLubber (talk) 17:19, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
I have just undid your changes on those changes of those quotes, I agree with WikiLubber, That doesn't seem to be a improvement that you're doing. You might wanna rethink of what you've doing and obviously read the editing guidelines. WikiLubber does have a point. --TPercival (talk) 18:59, 18 January 2017 (UTC)
