Thematic subsections
edit@UDScott:, thank you for your prompt review of the contribution I made recently. I see you tagged the article as needing cleanup, and in the history page you noted the reasons were "need to remove subsections and sort quotes chronologically". Following the linked articles of guidance in the tag box, I checked Wikiquote:Templates/People, Wikiquote:How to edit a page, Wikiquote:Manual of style. I haven't found guidance directly addressing this point... I wonder if you could point me to it, and also I wonder if you could elaborate why the thematic organizing of quotes is not suitable in this case. Thank you. - The problem in such a layout of quotes is that it violates the idea of having a non-point of view (NPOV). Selecting which quotes represent which topic inherently includes the selector's point of view. This subject has come up a few times over the years and the decision has always been to not have such subsections, relying instead on having the quotes in a chronological order to preserve neutrality. Thanks. ~ UDScott (talk) 16:50, 24 February 2018 (UTC)
- @UDScott:, thank you for your reply. Even though It think there is some informative value in a thematic organization of quotes, I understand that you are saying that deliberations on this happened and that the current preference is different... So I have removed the subsection headings and organized the quotes chronologically. I have also removed the template tag, now that these matters have been addressed. Let me know if you have any other significant concerns. Thank you. (talk) user:Al83tito 17:25, 25 February 2018 (UTC)
