Homophones & a spelling thing
editHi, I'm not logged in and don't feel free to change what is already in quotation marks, the word spelled as "bow", but I'll point out that the actual spelling of the "cradle" line is this:
when the bough breaks,
the cradle will fall.
It's from "Rock-a-by baby", a lullaby that goes,
Rock-a-bye, baby, in the treetop
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
And down will come baby, cradle and all.
Now I know they sound the same -- bow of a ship; bough of a tree. If Frank was a naval commander maybe it's poetic licence to use "bow" as a knowing replacement. Anyway, the cradle is rocking from a branch (a bough) in the tree and when it breaks, the cradle falls from on high.114.75.71.44 00:47, 8 April 2020 (UTC)
