In line with this comment by Kalki (talk · contributions) at Wikiquote:Votes for deletion/Matthew Sanchez [1], I have gone ahead and cleaned up this page [2]. In the future, we should stick to a pure chronological format, instead of a thematic topical format, and arrange quotes in descending chronological order, with most recent at the top. Also, we should stick to quotes from secondary sources, by authors that are not the subject of this page himself but rather other authors. In addition, it would be best for the individual that is the subject of this page to avoid editing the page itself directly. Cirt (talk) 11:22, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

Question on CleanupEdit

What process did you use to select the quotes? Why should the format be chronological over thematic? Is that a Wikiquote norm? Why would we use "secondary sources". Aren't most of the quotes directly from the primary source?

I would refrain from editing, unfortunately there are many biased editors (myself included) who are quite motivated and tenacious. Please note Allstarecho has consistently inserted the same unscripted dialogue to forward his agenda.

Last question, if you worked (as you clearly have) to "clean-up" this article, why did you request the article be deleted?Bluemarine 22:29, 27 July 2009 (UTC) Bluemarine 22:29, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

I (EVula) was the one that made the initial push for deletion, while Cirt (talk · contributions) was the one that has worked to clean up (no quotation marks, since it was a mess) the article. While Cirt is a very cool guy, he's not me. ;) EVula // talk // // 22:51, 27 July 2009 (UTC
How did Clrt arrive at his edits? Is this a collaboration or a type of unilateral editorship? Bluemarine 22:53, 27 July 2009 (UTC)

No agenda here Matthew, I'm just not willing to allow you to whitewash the article trying to keep out all negative things about you. That's not neutral and you know better. - ALLSTRecho wuz here @ 00:14, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

Comment: I have already stated above that I was modeling the cleanup after a comment by Kalki (talk · contributions) that I agree with, here [3]. As for quote selection, I found quotes that were themselves given in secondary sources - this helps to indicate noteworthiness of the quote - also, it allows that the author of the secondary source does a bit of the quote selection work for us, the Wikiquote editors, instead of us doing the selection process ourselves from a primary source. Text of the lede for this article was taken from the lede of the en.wikipedia article [4]. I think we should keep this version. Cirt (talk) 22:09, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Update: I copyedited the lede and trimmed it down in size [5]. Cirt (talk) 22:24, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
