Talk:James Herriot
This attribution may not be valid. I wanted to see if this was an interview (i.e. Herriot saying these things in Time Magazine, thus warranting attribution) or just quotes that were used in an article about Herriot (and thus not, for my purposes). So I searched the Time archive on the magazine's website (http://www.time.com/time/archive), with no time limits, as follows:
Margolis, Jonathan "But It Did Happen To A Vet"
and
Margolis, Jonathan "James Herriot"
Both came up with 14 articles, none of which appeared to relate to Herriot. I then narrowed the date range to December of 2002 and searched for "James Herriot" (no quotes) and came up with nothing.
I then searched the cover archive to see if the TOC for that issue was available that way and discovered that there was no such issue. In that month, Time was published on the 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30th.
I don't doubt the validity of the quotes, but I certainly doubt the citation.

- The captioned article appears on the jamesherriot.org fan site,[1] which cites the 14 December 1992 issue of Time. The date seems more plausible, being shortly after he published his last original book and announced his retirement, rather than being several years after his death. However, it does not appear in the table of contents for that issue.[2] I too am unable to verify that the piece ever actually appeared in Time magazine. ~ Ningauble (talk) 16:56, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
