Slasher film vs. Psychological horror film edit

I recently removed a newly added category of Psychological horror film. I maintain that this is purely a slasher film and it does not fit the definition of a psychological horror film. The definitions of each can be summarized by the following:

  • Slasher film – a type of horror film that typically involves a psychotic killer stalking and killing a sequence of victims in a graphically violent manner.
  • Psychological horror film – A sub-genre that relies on characters' fears, guilt, beliefs, eerie sound effects, and emotional instability to build up tension in the films. It tends to be compared to traditional horror and contains less physical harm because it works mainly on the factors of mentally affecting the audience rather than showing them imagery like splatter and slasher films do.
