Talk:Gore Vidal

Sorry to see that the full page of Vidal quotes from Esquire have been reduced to but five—the least interesting of them. Particularly note that his comment "Everything on Wikipedia is wrong" got culled. Guess I'll know better than to waste my time contributing here. ~F.N. Wombat, 8 Feb 2009

Some of the quotes mentioned were restored by normal wiki repair processes after this comment was made. ~ Kalki (talk · contributions) 12:14, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Today's public figures can no longer write their own speeches or books, and there is some evidence that they can't read them, either.
  • To David Dimbleby during BBC election coverage, following announcement of the victory of Barack Obama in the 2008 US presidential election: "I don't know why you're asking me - I don't even know who you are."... "I know too much about the subject matter, and you like to talk to people who don't know anything about the subject matter".

I have two more[1](the first of three is already listed) alleged quotes for Gore Vidal:

  • "There will come a day where it is an article of faith to be an American to say that there are no conspiracy theories." ~ Gore Vidal
  • "Conspiracy theory has become a code word for the unspeakable truth." ~ Gore Vidal
