Peter Rabbit (film)

Peter Rabbit is a 2018 live-action/computer-animated comedy film based on the stories of Peter Rabbit created by Beatrix Potter. The film stars Domhnall Gleeson, Rose Byrne, Sam Neill, Daisy Ridley, Elizabeth Debicki, James Corden as Peter Rabbit, and narrated by Margot Robbie. The film was released on February 9, 2018.

Written, directed and produced by Will Gluck.

• [to Peter Rabbit] You're mine now, rabbit.

• Rabbits are actually perfect creatures. They're generous, honest, pure.
• These gates are incredibly sturdy.
• [from trailer] These are rabbits! They wouldn’t hurt anyone.

• Why are you kids walking so slow?

Dialogue

Flopsy: Sorry about Dad's jacket.

Mopsy: I'm sorry you lost Dad's jacket.

Flopsy: [scoffs] I just said that.

Mopsy: Yeah, but coming from the oldest, it just kind of means more. [Flopsy gasps]

Peter Rabbit: It's just a jacket. [as he gestures to his heart and the others'] Dad and Mom are still in here, and here, and here, and here, and here. [to Benjamin] But less so in you, since you're just a cousin. You know, you're a nephew, and by marriage. I'm not taking anything away, I'm just, you know, I wanna be accurate.

Pigling Bland: Hey, little rabbit. Got your land back I see. All hail the Prodigal Son!

Peter Rabbit: It's no big deal.

Pigling Bland: No, no, a very big deal. You vanquished McGregor.

Peter Rabbit: Well, if "vanquished" means I said to him: "I've had enough of your tyranny!", and he said: "I will put you in a pie!", and I said: "No, sir, I will put you in a pie, sir!".

Pigling Bland: It doesn't, but thank you for the party.

Benjamin Bunny: I'm still so out of shape.

Peter Rabbit: How's it working with the putting the dressing on the side?

Benjamin Bunny: Good. But I don't understand why it's healthier to drink it all at once.

Peter Rabbit: [helps Benjamin up] You okay, big guy? Close one, huh?

Benjamin Bunny: I could've been killed. And not just me. What if he got the girls? This isn't a joke, Peter.

Peter Rabbit: I know. I'm sorry. [he and Benjamin apologetically put their heads together] You alright though, right? [gives Benjamin his jacket back] I've got your jacket back. It's not as symbolic as mine, you know, not being your dad's and all. And it's brown too, which is a mistake, because you're brown. I mean, brown on brown. Who wears that? It's a bit matchy-matchy.

Flopsy: Yeah, it's actually a bit confusing.

Mopsy: Half the time, we think you're naked.

Cottontail: I just look for the buttons, but then one time, it was your nipples.

[Benjamin looks surprised, then covers up in embarrassment]

Peter Rabbit: Anyway, you got it back and you're okay. [referring to Thomas] No thanks to him. Look at him. Skinny bag of wet.

Bea: What do you miss most about the store? And don't say having everything in its proper place. I get it. You have control issues.

Thomas McGregor: I miss being helpful. A parent or grandparent comes into this shop looking for a gift for the child they love. I ask a few simple questions and know exactly what they need. I love helping people get what they want, you know? Especially when they don't even know that they want it. Those are the best. [pause] Also, neatly arranged displays. I'm sorry, I can't help it. [he and Bea laugh]

Peter Rabbit: And so we advance to endgame.

Benjamin Bunny: You sure you know what you're doing?

Peter Rabbit: What? We're trying to get our garden back.

Benjamin Bunny: Is that really what this is all about?

Peter Rabbit: Of course that's what it's about. You think I've got some kind of ulterior motive, that I'm harboring some kind of emotional connection to her, because of losing my own mother and father and I think if she goes, what have I got? [his voice turns to a high pitch] It's only about the garden and I don't know what happened to my voice. It-It shouldn't be this high. [lowers his voice] It should be lower. It should be lower. I love her like a mother.

Benjamin Bunny: Yes, that was very convincing. It's only about the garden.

Peter Rabbit: Yes it is. And I'm stuck. My voice is stuck. Cottontail, can you just...

Cottontail: Yep. [slaps Peter]

Peter Rabbit: Unh! [clears throat] Thank you. Let's do this. [turns around and sees Bea and Thomas kissing]

Benjamin Bunny: I'm not sure I wanna be a part of this anymore.

Peter Rabbit: [scoffs] Of course you do. Just do what I say, it'll all work out.

Benjamin Bunny: "Like always, huh?", said the rabbit who almost got thrown into a river.

Peter Rabbit: Trust me. [Thomas closes the door] I got this.

Mr. Rabbit: You haven't really been trying to protect Bea, you're just scared of losing her.

Josephine Rabbit: But sharing love is not losing love. Love is infinite. Do you think we loved any less after we've had the girls?

Mr. Rabbit: Be honest with yourself, Peter, and go with your heart. You've got a good one.

Flopsy: Okay, listen up. Here's what we're going to do.

Mopsy: Wait, why do you get to be in charge?

Flopsy: Because I'm the oldest.

Mopsy: By 16 seconds! [Cottontail scoffs]

Flopsy: Oh, Mopsy. Sweet, sweet Mopsy.

Cottontail: Wait, you both know that I'm the oldest, right?

[Flopsy and Mopsy share a confused look at each-other]

Peter Rabbit: [talking to Thomas, who constantly attacks him but misses every time] You gotta come back with us. Back to Bea. She's about to leave. She's gonna give up painting and go home.

Thomas McGregor: She wants nothing to do with me.

Peter Rabbit: That's because she thinks this is all your fault. But we both know that I had a little, tiny something to do with it.

Thomas McGregor: [enraged] "LITTLE"?! "TINY"?!

Peter Rabbit: Okay, a lot! I'm not good at owning up to my mistakes. I'm working on it.

June: [banging the door] McGregor!

Peter Rabbit: I just hope it's not too late.

Thomas McGregor: [sadly] I let her down. It's over.

Peter Rabbit: It's not. I just wanted you gone. I didn't think of anyone but myself. I'm sorry I electrocuted you. I'm sorry I put traps on your head. I'm sorry I rubbed my butt on your hairbrush.

Thomas McGregor: [confused] Wait, wait, what?

Peter Rabbit: Nothing. Stay focused. [Thomas tries to attack him one last time] Please come back. Not for me, for Bea.

Thomas McGregor: How do I know this isn't a trick?

Peter Rabbit: [jumps down] You don't. You just have to trust me.

Benjamin Bunny: Trust us.

Thomas McGregor: So you really are talking?

Peter Rabbit: No. Like you said, you chilled out, man, you're cool now. And you're listening to your heart. That's what you're hearing.

June: [banging the door] McGregor, unlock this door!

Peter Rabbit: Now, listen to your heart. It's telling you to turn left, run 6 paces to that window, break it open, and let's get the heck out of here! [Thomas does so]

June: McGregor, open up! [Thomas slips out the window] McGregor!

[Peter, Benjamin, and Thomas slide down the rope and into the alley]
