The Osashizu is a record of divine revelations given by Iburi Izo from 1887–1907. It is one of the three main scriptures of Tenrikyo.

    Sah, sah, I shall level the ground. Has everyone assembled, has everyone assembled? Listen and understand well. All that I have said until now was put into a container of truth. But now God has opened the portals and stepped out. Because of My love for you, My children, the Parent shortened Her life by twenty-five years to step out and save the world from now. Observe well. Observe well what the path has been and what the path will become. When I asked whether I should open the portals or keep them closed to level the ground, you answered, “Please open the portals and level the ground.” I have done as you wished. Sah, there was a thing I had intended to give to My children but I was not able. I shall bestow this truth on you step by step hereafter. Remember this well.

    Sah, sah, you ask each thing, each thing; if you fully understand just one thing, it will do fully well. The path of single-heartedness with God may seem a bit difficult. It is not difficult at all. I have not yet explained the path of single-heartedness with God to you. Tenri-O-no-Mikoto is the truth of sincerity revealed since fifty years ago. The basis of Tenri-O-no-Mikoto, here at this one place, is the single-heartedness with which mankind, who did not exist, was created. The origin of this teaching is fifty years past. Understand the truth of the origin. She was not a well-known person. She was just an ordinary person on a farm, a woman who knew nothing. She was no one special. But understand well the truth that it was She who taught the ultimate teaching. She never went anywhere to see things, never learned anything in particular. I entered the body of this woman and spread truth. Understand this well. Teach the members of your family. The human body is a thing lent, a thing borrowed. Each way you have used your mind is reflected in this world. You have been born and reborn into this world many times. Each way you have used your mind is shown. When you have the thought, “What a situation is his,” you should settle your mind with tanno. Everything is reflected in this world. However large your treasure, of what value is it if you suffer from illness? There may be no greater misery. Free and unlimited blessings depend on your mind. Carry this truth with you. There will be a day when blessings will come quickly to your family and to everyone. If you believe this to be true, then come seeking to Me.

    On the request for permission to use the Kagura masks and other instruments of the Service at the Koriyama Branch Church:
    Sah, sah, on your question, listen closely or you will not understand. Upon one place after another do I bestow the one truth for the fulfillment of the path, arranging matters in accord with the world's path for the time being. On your sincere desire which you hold daily, listen carefully. Each of you must settle truth firmly. Your thoughts are that if this place and that place are the same they are one in truth. I grant truth to many places for the path. You think that those who perform the Service are one in truth. However, you must ponder the truth of those who perform the Service at the Jiba. The Jiba is the one place of origin. When people from all places devote themselves to the Jiba, truth will settle. If you understand the truth of those who perform the Service at the Jiba, you will understand that the use of the musical instruments at your church is completely in accord with the truth. Until now you have decorated your altar with the articles for the Service. I shall make truth clear. Among the articles for the Service which I have allowed you to use, there are some representing the creation of man. I direct that these be used only at the Jiba.

Since My red kimono will not last forever, your thought is that it would suffice to purchase so many feet and so many inches of cloth which need not be made into kimono, and use that for the amulets. However, I direct that red kimono be made and offered. And you will request that I wear them. This is what you will use for the grant which will never change.

    When I began, I thought to lay a complete and perfect path. But the world thinks only of destroying it by whatever means. . . . The path of God [神の道 Kami-no-michi] and the path of those in high places [上の道 kami-no-michi]: these sound the same. But the world’s path is a path of manifestations, whereas God’s path is the path of the heart. In the world’s path, you can do whatever you want and get away with it, so long as no one sees you do it. But in the path of the heart, it all comes to bear on yourself. In the path, therefore, there are two choices: the world’s path and the path of the heart. In the world’s path, you never know what pitfalls lie ahead or where swords await you. And since God’s path is the path of the three-inch span of the heart, your ideas of wanting to follow this path may not be enough to get you through it. Now that I have explained this so fully, any and everything should settle.

    The matter at hand concerns a path for women. Though each of you women is on a woman’s path, the path for women that I speak of makes no distinction between men and women. You do not know what this path is. So listen carefully and understand well. Through this talk, I am providing you with a basis for discussions among yourselves. Listen well and understand. Many are those within. The many within are working day after day. But there must be the one truth within. Depending on the length you have followed the path, some are called “old” and others “new.” With both the “new” and the “old,” there is every sort of truth. With the “old,” there are also truths accumulated over the years. Women, begin the Women’s Association now. This is not begun by the thoughts of human beings. It is God who has you begin it.

However, you can take delight if I tell you that the mind is eternal. The truth of your contribution cannot be allowed to go unnoticed or be abandoned—such is the truth. The truth for eternity cannot be allowed to go unnoticed or be abandoned, because its effectiveness builds gradually year after year.

    Sah, sah, another word, another word. I shall instruct you, basing My talk on the order of development. I begin to speak on a small matter like the beginning of this path. In the beginning, forty-five or six years ago, I began the construction with a building one tsubo square. This was the beginning. That building of one tsubo has resulted in what you see now. At that time there was one who asked Me what to do through My mediators. When I gave him My answer, he responded. When he spoke to Me, I gave him My answer. This has already been recorded in the past records. It began with one tsubo. You might think one tsubo is trifling. Beginnings are such. It was the Seki who said, “I will take responsibility.” All of you, become of this mind. It began with My words, “Begin with one tsubo,” and the path progressed. It was a difficult path, a worrisome path, but from this difficulty the construction was accomplished and the path progressed. Now there are churches in all parts of the nation. But in the beginning there was nothing distinct. It was indeed vague, vague.

    I am fully satisfied. The Seki is satisfied, is satisfied. At this moment, as the Seki's position becomes critical, all of you have gathered to seek the resolution for his illness, and united your hearts in spite of your problems, to pray for his recovery once again for ten more years of life. I commend your sincerity. It is a sincerity deserving of My free and unlimited workings. You need not worry whether he will recover or not. Firmly calm your minds. All of you take heart and rejoice, take heart and rejoice.
