edit- Fugue states or severe headaches prior to or after overt necrophilic behavior have also been reported. Coupled with the fact that alcohol (one of the factors associated with necrophilia) can induce temporal lobe abnormalities, and that temporal lobe abnormalities are associated with a number of other paraphilias, it may be reasonable to deduce that temporal lobe anomalies may be responsible for some instances of necrophilia.

- By necrophilia is meant love for all that is violence and destruction; the desire to kill; the worship of force; attraction to death, to suicide, to sadism; the desire to transform the organic into the inorganic by means of "order." The necrophile, lacking the necessary qualities to create, in his impotence finds it easy to destroy because for him it serves only one quality: force.

- Three types of necrophiles, with varying degrees of severity are described. The first is the pseudo necrophile, also called a fantasy necrophile; this is an individual who either fantasizes about sex with dead bodies or has sex with dead bodies only periodically. The pseudo nacrophile prefer the sexual partner to be alive but pretend to be dead, and there are many reports from prostitutes that their clients make them partake in this behavior. A second classification of necrophile is the regular necrophile; this is an individual has regularly intercourse with dead bodies. He is attracted to corpses and frequently works in an occupation where there is access to dead bodies, such as coroner, or in a place like a morgue or graveyard…. The third degree of necrophilic behavior, where is the person is labeled a homicidal nechrophile. The person kills in order to have intercourse with dead bodies, which is an extreme form of the paraphilia.

- Neither psychosis, mental retardation, nor sadism appears to be inherent in necrophilia. The most common motive for necrophilia is possession of an unresisting and unrejecting partner. Necrophiles often choose occupations that put them in contact with corpses. Some necrophiles who had occupational access to corpses committed homicide nevertheless.

- [P]rostitution, adultery, necrophilia, bestiality, possession of child pornography, and even incest and pedophilia … should be legal as long as no one is coerced. They are illegal only because of prejudice and narrowmindedness.
Some rules might be called for when these acts directly affect other people's interests. … For necrophilia, it might be necessary to ask the next of kin for permission if the decedent's will did not authorize it. Necrophilia would be my second choice for what should be done with my corpse, the first being scientific or medical use. Once my dead body is no longer of any use to me, it may as well be of some use to someone. Besides, I often enjoy rhinophytonecrophilia (nasal sex with dead plants).- Richard Stallman ([1], 28 June 2003)
