Opening Text: Humans dominated the planet for thousands of years. Their hubris led them to ruin. A man-made virus gave rise to an intelligent species of Ape. For humans, it had the reverse effect, robbing them of their intellect and ability to speak. As Ape and Human struggled to coexist, one ape rose up and sacrificed everything for his kind. His name was Caesar.

Dialogue

Raka: [Referring to space telescope] A tunnel that eats light?
Noa: She saw what I saw. It was in her eyes. She... reacted.
Raka: How?
Noa: As ape would. If Echo comes, she must ride.
Raka: Hmm. Is my young companion showing compassion for our fellow traveler?
Noa: She is slow.
Raka: [Walks up to Mae/Nova, stereotypically gibbering then points behind him] Horse. [Flatulates his lips]
Raka: [Riding along with Mae/Nova] Then, of course, there is the gibbon. Very, very long arms. Is most unfortunate that the human can only use its feet for walking. Imagine if you were falling from a tree. You only have two appendages to save your life. But if you were able to use both of your hands... and both of your feet... that’s four times the safety. And I imagine that, if I came across a special... [spots a zebra] What is that? [Walks to edge of gully to spot humans and zebras bathing in river] Horses with stripes. Quite striking. We feared the herds ceased to exist.
Raka: [Walks up to Noa on horseback] Will you not say goodbye?
Noa: I must find my clan. The Nova stays with her kind. You raise them up. Follow Caesar’s word.
Raka: [Takes off necklace, handing it to Noa] To remember... who he was. It is important. [Noa takes necklace and rides away]
Raka: [Walks up behind Mae/Nova observing other humans bathing in river] They are like you. Would you like to join them? [Noa rides by on horseback] He has his journey. We have ours. Come.
Noa: You are older.
Anaya: By length of a sunset--!
Noa: Is older.
[From deleted scene]
Noa: Why do you burn your dead?
Raka: What does your clan do?
Noa: Bury them. Cover with stones to keep animals away.
Raka: Burn or bury, it is only important to say "goodbye".
Raka: What did I miss?
Noa: She spoke. She called my name.
Raka: You misheard.
Noa: You said this Nova was "smarter than most".
Raka: Within reason. Some intelligence, to be sure, but--
Nova / Mae: I have a name: Mae. I know where they're taking your clan.
Proximus Caesar: What a wonderful day!
Apes: What a wonderful day!
Proximus Caesar: Are we thankful for the words of Caesar?
Apes: We are thankful!

Lightning: [Laughs upon entering the vault, seeing military equipment] Noa, you are a very useful ape. You understand so many things. And yet, you fail to observe one of the most important. [Pause] You cannot trust a human! Here comes your clan to bear witness. You may be fool enough to put your faith in such a duplicitous creature. But I am not. Tell me, Noa, ape to ape, what did Mae have planned for me inside my own vault? Okay. So what do you choose? A human over an ape? Your sweet little Soona... [Soona whimpers] or that stinky human? [Noa yells] Tell me your plan!
