The 2023 Israel–Hamas war hostage crisis began on 7 October 2023, as part of the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel at the beginning of the 2023 Israel-Hamas war. Palestinian militants (led by Hamas) abducted around 250 people to the Gaza Strip.
