Nathan "Nate" Drake

edit
  • [Repeated line] Oh, crap!
  • Strangers trying to kill me, leave my map on a burning plane. Elena's missing, most likely dead. That's great. Great start, Nate.

Elena Fisher

edit
  • All right, you boys aren't gonna get all chummy and leave the girl behind again, are you?

Victor "Sully" Sullivan

edit
  • We have everything we need right here. All the clues to take us right to the treasure. We can do this, kid.

Atoq Navarro

edit
  • [To Nate, after killing Roman] Wrong. I'm the only person on this island who knows what the hell he's doing!

Gabriel Roman

edit
  • See, your friend owes me money, Mr. Drake. A lot of money. So when he told me that you two were onto something big. The "find of a lifetime," he said. Well, I was intrigued.

Eddy Raja

edit
  • Tai kamu! Listen to me, maggot. I was promised treasure on this goddamn rock, and now my men are dying. They can't even go outside to take a piss without an armed guard, and I have nothing to show for it!
  • Don't mess with Eddy Raja!

Dialogue

edit
[After escaping from the exploding boat with Elena, Nate surfaces under the wing of Sully's seaplane. As Nate gasps for breath, Sully opens the plane door. Nate swims over to the door.]
Sully: [Laughs] I can't leave you alone for a minute, can I?
[Nate puts his hand on the bottom of the door, where Sully pats it.]
Nate: I had everything under control until they blew up the boat.
[As Elena swims over to the door, Sully puts a small ladder on the bottom of the door.]
Nate: [To Elena] You all right?
Elena: Nothing that years of therapy won't fix. [Gives Sully her camera. Sully takes it and puts it inside the plane]
[Elena climbs the ladder.]
Sully: Well, if it isn't the beautiful and talented Elena Fisher. [Helps Elena up]
Elena: Flattery will get you screen time.
Sully: Yeah, I'm more of a behind-the-scenes kind of guy. [Takes his cigar out of his mouth] Victor Sullivan. [Kisses Elena's hand]
Elena: Oh– [Chuckles]
Nate: Oh, for Christ's sakes– [Climbs into the plane, pulls the ladder inside, and closes the door] What do you say we get outta here before we attract anymore attention?

[Nate, Elena, and Sully are flying over the ocean, Nate sitting in the co-pilot's seat next to Sully, Elena sitting in the cargo hold behind Sully, and Sully sitting in the pilot's seat.]
Sully: Well?
Nate: [Shows Sully Sir Francis Drake's journal] A little present from Sir Francis.
Sully: [Laughs] So you found the coffin? Wait a minute, is this what I think it is?
Nate: [Laughs] Drake's lost diary. He faked his death, just like I said, Sully. [Sully takes his cigar out of his mouth] He must've been onto something big.
Sully: Yeah, well, let's just keep that between us. [Puts his cigar back in his mouth]
[Elena turns around from her chair behind the pilot's seat.]
Elena: Thanks for the loan, Mr. Drake. [Hands Nate the gun. Nate takes it] I think I've earned a look at that diary when we land.
[Sully takes out his cigar from his mouth and gives Nate a confused look. Nate just shrugs.]

[After swimming back to shore, Nate finds Roman kneeling in front of him and Navarro standing in front of him holding an AK-47.]
Roman: [Holds out his hand] Hello.
[Nate refuses to take Roman's hand. As Nate starts to get out of the water, Navarro grabs his arm and lifts him up out of the water.]
Nate: Hey, hey! [Navarro takes out his pistol from his holster] Friends of yours, Sully?
Roman: I'm Gabriel Roman.
Nate: Yeah, I know who you are, asshole.
Roman: Manners, young man. This is just business.
Navarro: [Pushes Nate towards Sully] Get over there.
Nate: Easy!
Navarro: Put your hands up.
Nate: [Raises his hands] All right, they're up.
Roman: See, your friend owes me money, Mr. Drake. A lot of money. So when he told me that you two were onto something big. "The find of a lifetime," he said. Well, I was intrigued. But he's made grand promises before. Haven't you, Victor? And here we are again. Another fool's errand.
Nate: Sheesh, does he always go on like this? [Navarro hits him in the back with the butt of his rifle]
Roman: Take it easy, Navarro. [Chuckles] So– I'm afraid the time is up. [Points towards the U-boat] Unless, of course, you found something in there, Mr. Drake, that might compensate for all this unpleasantness?
Sully: He's screwing with you, Nate. They heard everything. Just give 'em the map.
Navarro: Slowly.
[Nate pulls out the map and gives it to Navarro. Navarro takes it.]
Navarro: What does a Kriegsmarine map have to do with El Dorado? [Gives Roman the map. Roman takes it]
Sully: What, you think this is a coincidence? The Germans were after the same treasure. That map has something to do with it.
[Roman looks at Sully.]
Sully: So, we square?
Roman: For now. [Pulls out his revolver] But just in case you need a reminder– [Points the revolver at Nate]
Sully: Hey, come on, leave him out of it.
Nate: Yeah, don't you guys usually just cut off a finger or something?
Roman: That's far too vulgar. No, I think this will hurt him a bit more.
Sully: Now, whoa, whoa, whoa. C'mon, Roman, he's got nothing to do with–
[Roman fires a bullet at Sully that hits him in the chest. Sully clutches at his chest and collapses to the ground.]
Nate: [Horrified] Sully! Sully!! [Angrily rushes at Navarro and tries to wrestle the rifle from him] You son of a bitch!
[The U-boat explodes, killing a group of mercenaries and knocking Nate, Roman, and Navarro down. Nate stands up and sees Sully lying face-down on the ground. As Navarro stands up, Nate runs away.]
Roman: [Sees Nate running away, to Navarro] Stop him!

[After running back to the temple, Nate stops to catch his breath when two arms grab his arm and spin him around. Nate raises his fist, but sees that it's Elena, who is also raising her fist.]
Elena: Whoa there, cowboy!
[Nate sighs in relief. Elena punches him in the face.]
Elena: That's for leaving me at the dock.
Nate: [Holding his left eye that Elena punched] What the hell are you doing here?
Elena: Listen, I'm a good enough reporter to follow a couple of no-luck tomb robbers!
Nate: [Presses Elena up against the pillar] Shhh...!
Mercenary #1: He went this way!
Mencenary #2: I'll radio ahead!
[The mercenaries run past Nate and Elena. Once the mercenaries are gone, Nate takes a step back from Elena.]
Nate: Well, you're down to one tomb robber now. Sully's dead.
Elena: [Shocked] What?
Nate: Yeah. And we're next if we don't get outta here.
Elena: Oh, God. I'm– I'm sorry.
Nate: Please tell me you have a gun.
Elena: [Pulls out a pistol] Of course. [Gives Nate the pistol]
Nate: Oh, thanks. [Takes the pistol from Elena] All right, come on.

[Nate and Elena arrive at a jeep. They pull off the palm leaves on the jeep.]
Elena: You always been this popular?
Nate: Well, I do seem to attract the scum of the earth. Ah – no offense.
Elena: [Climbs into the passenger seat of the jeep] None taken.
Nate: [Gets into the driver's seat of the jeep] Do you have a good memory?
Elena: Yeah, why?
Nate: UK2642. You got that?
Elena: Yeah, what is it?
Nate: [Pulls out the map and gives it to Elena. Elena takes it] It's Kriegsmarine coordinates. I think I know where the Spanish took El Dorado.
Elena: [Opens the map] El Dorado? [Looks at Kriegsmarine coordinates on the map]
Nate: [Tries to start the jeep] The problem is, so do the bastards who killed Sully. Damn it! If the Spanish found the treasure, they had to have moved it there, to that island. And Drake followed 'em.
Elena: Well, what are we waiting for? I'll get the story, and you get whatever it is you're after.
Nate: [Succeeds in starting the jeep] Yeah, haha!
Elena: Come on.
Nate: Hey, this isn't gonna be a vacation, you know.
Elena: I can take care of myself. Besides, you owe me one.
Nate: I suppose I do.
[Nate and Elena drive out of the forest.]

[After arriving at the top of the tower, Nate notices a telescope on a table.]
Nate: This must've been Drake's. [Picks up the telescope and makes his way towards the balcony] So what were you looking for, hm? [Looks through the telescope and sees an orange-domed building in the distance] Well, now, that looks familiar. [Looks down and sees a bunch of wrecked ships sticking out of the water in front of the harbor] Huh. The ships never left. [Looks down to the cliffside on the edge of the island and sees Elena standing on the cliffside looking out to sea with her video camera] Elena!
Pirate #1: Hey, there she is.
[Nate sees two pirates right below the balcony aiming their grenade launchers at Elena. He pulls out his gun and uses it to fire at bullet at one pirate that hits him in the back, killing him. However, the other pirate turns around.]
Nate: [Sees the other pirate turning around] Oh, crap!
[The other pirate fires a grenade at the balcony, destroying it and knocking Nate unconscious.]
Pirate #2: We got him!

[Nate and Elena go through a doorway that leads to a riverbank with a jet ski in the water.]
Nate: This was a big mistake.
Elena: [Laughs] No kidding. Y'know, I should've turned before the bridge. [Sits on a fallen pillar]
Nate: [Chuckles] That's very funny.
Elena: Oh, c'mere a minute. I wanna show you something.
Nate: [Approaches Elena] That thing still works?
Elena: Uh-huh. Check this out.
[Nate sits down next to Elena.]
Elena: [Shows Nate footage of the domed harbor building from her video camera] Okay, see this building in the harbor? That's where all the boats coming into the colony would've unloaded their cargo. So, if the El Dorado treasure came to this island, it would've had to have come through here.
Nate: [Notices something on the camera] Wait a minute, what– what was that?
Elena: What?
Nate: Rewind it.
Elena: [Rewinds footage] Yeah?
Nate: Wait, stop.
Elena: [Pauses recording] Uh-huh.
Nate: [Sees a boat in the camera] Right there. [Points to the boat] That's our ticket outta here. C'mon. [Stands up and starts towards the jet ski]
Elena: [Confused] Our ticket outta here? Are you giving up?
Nate: [Stops walking and turns to Elena] Maybe you hadn't noticed, but we're kind of outnumbered.
Elena: Pfft. We're doing fine so far.
Nate: [Serious] Elena, I don't need your bullet-riddled corpse on conscience. Let's go.
Elena: [Annoyed] Oh, please. You quit if you want to, but don't use me as an excuse.
Nate: [Scoffs] Fine. It's me, okay? I am quitting. Are you coming or not?
Elena: So that's it? You're just gonna forget about the treasure and forget about Drake?
Nate: [Sighs] Goddamn it, this is not worth dying over.
Elena: Okay. Okay. Listen, either way we have to head back to the harbor. [Lightly slaps Nate's arm] Don't worry about it. We can argue about it later. It'll be great. [Starts towards the jet ski]
Nate: [Stops Elena before she can start towards the jet ski] Wait. [Elena turns to him] This time, I drive. [Goes to the jet ski]
Elena: Okay. [Follows Nate to the jet ski]

[Nate and Elena make their way into an abandoned library.]
Elena: Wow.
Nate: These must be all the old ship manifests.
[Elena uses her video camera to film Nate picking up a book.]
Nate: Still seem to be in good shape.
[Nate blows off some dust on the cover of the book. He puts down the book and walks over to another open book on a table behind him.]
Nate: Hey, check this out. This looks right. The Esperanza. Sailed from Callao, Peru. Carrying 800 bars of gold, 1200 silver. Emeralds, golden masks, ornaments–
Elena: Whoa, reading 16th-century Spanish. Not just a grave robber after all, huh?
Nate: Right here. Gold statue, weight: 20 arrobas. That's over five hundred pounds. That's gotta be it. [Turns the page to a picture of El Dorado] Wow. There you are.
Elena: That thing kinda gives me the creeps.
[Nate turns the page again, but realizes the rest of the book is empty.]
Nate: Huh. That's the last entry.
[Nate starts fiddling with a ring around his neck, which Elena notices.]
Elena: That somebody special?
Nate: What?
[Elena nods to the ring around Nate's neck.]
Nate: Oh, yeah, I guess you could say that.
Elena: Huh. I had you pegged as more of a woman-in-every-port kind of guy.
Nate: [Laughs] Don't I wish. No, this was, ah– this was Francis Drake's ring. I, you know, kind of inherited it.
Elena [Reads the inscription on the outside of the ring] 'Sic parvis magna'?
Nate: "Greatness from small beginnings". It was his motto. Check out the date.
Elena: 29th of January, 1596.
Nate: One day after he supposedly died.
Elena: Wait, what are these numbers right here?
Nate: Coordinates. Right off the coast of Panama.
Elena: Oh, so that's how you found the coffin.
Nate: Yeah, that's right. See, Drake left this as a clue to pinpoint the exact burial site.
Elena: For someone clever enough to figure it out.
Nate: [Laughs] Yeah, nice try. But we're still going for that boat.
Nate: [Rips out the picture of El Dorado from the book and holds it up to Elena's video camera] I'm afraid this is as close as we're getting to El Dorado.

[Nate and Elena arrive at a balcony overlooking the ocean.]
Elena: I don't see any boat, Nate. Looks like we missed our chance.
Nate: [Sees the boat on the other side of the harbour] No, there it is. [Points to the boat] On the other side of the harbour. Come on. [Starts to leave]
Elena: [Stops Nate before he can leave] Hey, you know what? [Nate turns to her] Why don't I just wait here, and you can, uh, swing around and come back and pick me up.
Nate: [Laughs] Okay, what are you up to?
Elena: Nothing. I just wanna, you know, stay here and get some more footage. I'll be safe.
Nate: All right, fine. But promise me you'll stay put. [Elena nods and holds up her hands as if to say "I promise"] Whatever that means. [Leaves, while Elena looks on]

[After taking out the mercenaries, Nate and Elena approach Sully, who is hiding behind the table.]
Sully: [Stands up] Ah, man. It's about time you showed up.
Nate: Well– you're looking awfully good for a corpse.
Sully: So you brought the girl after all, huh?
Elena: [Surprised] "The girl"?
Nate: Hey, if it wasn't for her, you wouldn't be getting rescued by now.
Elena: If this is a rescue. [Sits down on a chair]
Sully: What the hell does that mean?
Nate: You gotta admit, Sully, this all looks a little shady.
Elena: Yeah.
Nate: I mean, you tipping those guys off.
Elena: And miraculously showing up alive.
Sully: Now, wait a goddamn minute, Roman had a contract out on me. I needed to buy some time. All right, stupid mistake. I didn't realize they'd try and track us.
Nate: Sully, we would've been headed home with the treasure by now if you had just for once kept your mouth shut.
Sully: And you might've thought of checking for a pulse before running off and leaving me for dead. Look, none of that matters now.
Elena: All right, so how is it you're standing here breathing and all?
Sully: [Chuckles] You are not gonna believe this. [Picks up Sir Francis Drake's diary and holds it up, revealing a bullet-hole in it]
Nate: [Takes Sir Francis Drake's diary from Sully] No way! Ol' Francis took a bullet for you.
Sully: Yeah.
[Elena stands up.]
Nate: I thought this kinda thing only happened in the movies. [Hands Elena the diary. Elena takes it]
Sully: Yeah, well, it still hurt like a son of a bitch, I'll tell you that.
[Nate laughs.]
Elena: [Laughs] I bet.
Sully: Anyway, once they realized I wasn't dead, I convinced Roman that they would never find the treasure without me. So I've been trying to mislead them ever since, waiting for you to show up.
Elena: [Sitting on the chair, gives Sully the diary. Sully takes it] Well, where are they now?
Sully: Well, they're chasing a little red herring I sent 'em on, on the other side of the monastery, to get rid of 'em.
[Nate laughs.]
Sully: [Opens the diary to a page with a drawing of a heart with two keys sticking out of it] Look, Drake had it all figured out. See, that's the symbol the Spanish used to mark their secret vaults. The treasure is hidden right here in this monastery. Find the symbol–
Nate and Sully: [In unison] And we find the vault.
Sully: We have everything we need right here. All the clues to take us right to the treasure. We can do this, kid.
[Nate chuckles.]
Elena: [Approaches Nate and Sully] All right– [Puts her arms around Nate and Sully] –you boys aren't gonna get all chummy and leave the girl behind again, are you?
[Sully chuckles.]
Nate: Don't even think about it, Sully. She's got a mean right hook.
Sully: I'll keep that in mind. [Elena pats him on his head]
[Nate turns a page on the diary.]

[Nate turns the two torches on either side of the statues. The statue slides down into the ground, revealing steps leading down into a catacomb. Sully shines his flashlight down the stairs.]
Nate: Well, this looks promising. Here, let me see that.
Sully: Yeah. [Hands Nate the flashlight]
Nate: [Takes the flashlight from Sully and shines it down the stairs] Okay. You two sit tight. I'm gonna check things out.
Elena: Whoa, wait. No, you're not going out there alone.
Sully: Yeah, Roman's men are swarming all over this place.
Nate: Yeah, and one person'll make a lot less noise than three. [Sully shrugs] Come on, I'll be fine. And you guys will be safe here. They don't even know about this room.
Sully: [Pulls out a walkie-talkie and places it on Nate's hand] Okay, take this with you. Leave it on channel 13. They don't use that one. And keep us posted.
Nate: All right, you got it. Close this thing back up.
Sully: Yeah.
Elena: Nate– be careful.
Nate: [Chuckles] C'mon. I always am. [Turns around and bonks his head on the upper part of the entrance archway] Aah! I did not see that!
[As Nate goes into the passage, the door closes up behind him.]
