Song lyrics edit

Begin Here (1965) [UK album] edit

  • Well no one told me about her;
    The way she lied.
Well no one told me about her,
    How many people cried.

But it's too late to say you're sorry,
How would I know why should I care?
Please don't bother trying to find her,
    She's not there!

  • Well let me tell you 'bout the way she looked,
The way she'd acted, the color of her hair.
Her voice was soft and cool,
Her eyes were clear and bright,
    But she's not there.
    • She's Not There
  • Should I try to hide
    The way I feel inside
    My heart, for you?
    Would you say that you
Would try to love me too?
    In your mind
    Could you ever be
    Really close to me?
    • The Way I Feel Inside

The Zombies (1965) [US album] edit

  • And if she should tell you "come closer"
And if she tempts you with her charms,

Tell her no no no no no-no-no-no.
    No no no no no-no-no-no.
    No no no no no.
Don't hurt me now for her love belongs to me.

Odessey and Oracle (1968) edit

  • Good morning to you, I hope you're feeling better, baby,
Thinking of me while you are far away.
Counting the days until they set you free again,
Writing this letter hoping you're okay.

Saved you the room you used to stay in every Sunday,
The one that is warmed by sunshine every day.
And we'll get to know each other for a second time,
And then you can tell me 'bout your prison stay.

  • She watches her flowers grow,
    While lovers come and go
To give each other roses from her tree,
But not a rose for Emily.
    • A Rose for Emily
  • A butcher yes that was my trade,
But the king's shilling is now my fee.
A butcher I may as well have stayed
For the slaughter that I see.

And the preacher in his pulpit
Sermon: "Go and fight, do what is right"
But he don't have to hear these guns
And I'll bet he sleeps at night.

  • It's the time of the season
    When the love runs high.
In this time, give it to me easy
And let me try with pleasured hands

To take you in the sun to (promised lands)
    To show you every one.
It's the time of the season for loving.

  • What's your name? (What’s your name?)
Who's your daddy? (Who's your daddy?)
(He rich?) Is he rich like me?
Has he taken (Has he taken)
    Any time (Any time)
(To show) To show you what you need to live?

Tell it to me slowly (tell you what?)
    I really want to know.
It's the time of the season for loving.

    • Time of the Season
