The Black Phone is a 2021 American horror film in which, after being abducted by a child killer and locked in a soundproof basement, a 13-year-old boy starts receiving calls on a disconnected phone from the killer's previous victims.

edit- [The next morning, Finney hears Terence brutally flogging Gwen with the belt and rushes in to see the horrid scene]
- Gwen: I'M SORRY!!
- Finney: [furious] DAD, STOP!!
- Terence: [points the belt at Finney] HEY!! You stay out of this! Gwenny, they came to my work. Why did the police come to my work?! [flogs Gwen]
- Gwen: [screams] I don't know! I'm sorry!
- Terence: You need to tell me what you know about this investigation!
- Gwen: Nothing!
- Terence: Tell me what... What?
- Gwen: Nothing!
- Terence: Huh?!
- Gwen: NOTHING!!
- Terence: WHAT?!
- Gwen: [grabs the vodka bottle and hangs it over the kitchen floor] NOTHIIIIING!!!!! Hit me again, and I'm dropping it!
- Terence: [raises the belt in a menacing and vicious manner] You drop that, and I will beat your ass twice as hard. [Gwen drops the vodka bottle and it shatters on the floor, spilling vodka and Terence shoves Gwen face-down to the floor]
- Finney: NO, DAD!!!
- Terence: It was an $8 bottle of goddamn vodka! Oh, now, you listen to me! Listen to me! YOU... ARE NOT... YOUR MOTHER!!!!
- Gwen: [sobbing] I know.
- Terence: That means you do not hear things that are not there! You do not see things that are not there!
- Gwen: Okay!
- Terence: They're not there, Gwenny!
- Gwen: Okay.
- Terence: And your dreams, they're just fucking dreams. Do you understand me?
- Gwen: Yes!!
- Terence: Do you understand me?!
- Gwen: Yes!
- Terence: Say it! I want to hear you say it!
- Gwen: My dreams are just dreams!!
- Terence: SAY IT AGAIN!!!
