The Beach Nut

The Beach Nut is the 11th animated cartoon short subject in the Woody Woodpecker series. Released theatrically on October 16, 1944, the film was produced by Walter Lantz Productions and distributed by Universal Pictures. The title is a play on "beech nut".

Dialogue

[Wally chases Woody to an amusement pier, but loses him. However, he spots a fortune teller shop with signs reading, “Yogi Yoyo. Sees All, Knows All. Palms Read and Greased. Missing Woodpeckers Located.” Wally enters the booth, walking into a giant gong marked, “Ring for Service.” He rings it again. Fanfare plays offscreen. Woody enters, dressed in a swami’s turban, and riding a flying carpet, in the manner of a WWII bombing crew]

Woody Woodpecker: (on the phone) Pilot to Bombardier. Bombardier to Navigator. Navigator to Crew. Prepare for crash landing. That is all. Roger! (He power dives at Wally, stopping just short of his nose, as a mechanical hand pulls the carpet out from under Woody and he steps neatly onto a table top) Fat boy wish to ask Yogi question?

Wally Walrus: Ja! Ja! Vere is dat little redhead? Vere did he go? Vere is he?

Woody Woodpecker: Ummm... That’s a toughie. Yogi must consult stars. Woody pulls out a mallet and bops Wally on the head, so that he sees lots of stars. The stars reposition themselves into the shape of a neon arrow pointing offscreen, with the letters, “HE’S IN THERE”. The arrow points to a curtain. Woody goes to the curtain. He whispers to Wally) He's in there.

Wally Walrus: Oh, goodie, goodie, goodie. You open the curtain, and I’ll grab him.

Woody Woodpecker: Okay. 1... 2... 3.

[Wally jumps in through a concealed plate glass window, crashing back out into the street offscreen. Woody laughs. Wally grabs him offscreen]
