Make it better

Don't you think its quicker to just type "" and hit return 2 times rather than typing in the entire word "quickquote" + all those brackets? Wont it be better to shrten quickquote to qq or something? --Weedrat 05:45, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

The brackets and other syntax are what make it possible to group the content (the quotes and the source/context infomation) and separate it from the style (which changes over time, as Wikiquote developes). Lucanos's had was by parameterizing the quote and source material, we could make global style changes at any time in the future simply by updating this one template instead of hundreds of thousands of quotes in 10,000 articles. The two biggest problems are (A) performance issues by having so much use of templates; and (B) the complexity of the many kinds of styles needed to accomodate all the varying genres of quotes. It's not a bad start to a good idea. I suspect we will have to seriously consider something like this in the future. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 23:59, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I changed the format, since it was based on our older practice. Today we don't employ any blacket ("") nor italize the quote, and use a ballet for remark as far as I know. But personally I think it should be obsolated or at least used as only substitution, considering server load; too many inclusion is not good, and I am not sure if we really need it. --Aphaia 00:57, 19 May 2007 (UTC)
