Talk:Yogi Berra

This is the talk page for discussing improvements to the Yogi Berra page.

AFLAC quotesEdit

I have moved the quotes attributed to "An AFLAC insurance TV advertisement." because that's not sufficient to consider the quotes sourced. Some further information about the year(s) that those ads aired would be the least that would be required (it's very hard to hunt down sources for commercials). —LrdChaos (talk) 14:24, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Repeated Quote?Edit

there is, "What? Right Now?" and "Right Now?" as separate quotes, is this a mistake or are they different quotes.

Not verbatimEdit

When asked what made a good manager, he said "good players". I have doubts about the "90% of putts". "Nostalgia" is wrong. The right quote is below and is "future". "If you don't know where you are going, you may not get there." Some other quotes look suspicious. Reference: "The Yogi Berra book" by himself.

The "surprise me" quote comes originally from Bob Hope on his deathbed and not from Yogi. Seems this Yogi guy gets credited for all kinds of quotes ;-)

--"As he himself is said to have put it, referring to the numerous "Yogiisms" floating around: 'I didn't really say everything I said.'"

This page is really more a collection of yogiisms than verified quotes, not that I'm complaining.

No one goes there any more; it's too crowded.Edit

The quote about it being crowded is under both the sourced and Unsourced headings. 05:14, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Yogi was talking about (celebrity-rich) Elaine's restaraunt in NYC. "Nobody goes to Elaine's anymore, it's too crowded." 23:18, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

"Progress may have been a good thing once, but it just went on too long." Attributed to Yogi Berra by one Richard Hull on the Forum. --BjKa (talk) 12:23, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

This is probably a misattribution, as it can be traced at least to Ogden Nash, 1959 according to --BjKa (talk) 12:30, 1 February 2016 (UTC)
