Citations

While I really like to use the ref/references system (aka cite.php for citing many quotes from a single source, I think this article currently demonstrates why it's not so useful for single quotes from many sources. When I use the cite.php system for source info, I add a brief description in a source line, including specific info (like page numbers) for each quote, leaving the footnote to provide the full citation for researchers. (See Dean Koontz#One Door Away from Heaven (2001) for an example.) We don't have a formal policy on this yet — Wikiquote:Sourcing is under development, and Wikiquote:Citing sources is largely borrowed from WP with little revision for WQ — but as we get more WP editors comfortable with citing sources, we clearly will need to establish some clear examples of what works well for Wikiquote. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 16:37, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
