Asimov may have been understandably entranced by the potential for RNA to serve as an information-storage medium. But even at the time he proposed that hypothesis, molecular biologists understood the synthesis of RNA well enough to know that it is ludicrous to suppose that sensory experience could somehow alter the sequence of even a single RNA molecule to the extent necessary for storage of complex information. And that's to say nothing of the fantastical mechanism by which such information might be read in order to retrieve the memory.
