Talk:Mother Teresa
I have seen people all over the internet saying Kent Keith wrote this first--is there any solid evidence of this claim, or just his word against Mother Teresa's? She was born in 1910--it seems very unlikely that she was reading Student Leadership manuals of motivational speaking in 1968, or whenever Keith claims to have written this--and even more unlikely that Mother Theresa decided to steal from him. The claim that he originally wrote these famous words reads like a viral marketing campaign to sell books. Thoughts?
The list of paradoxical commandments (... "love people anyway", etc.) was not originally written by Mother Teresa. It was written by Kent Keith (if that's how you spell his name). I have heard that there was a poster of these commandments at her mission, though, and this may be the source of the confusion. How does one correct this misattribution here? 209.209.140.20
"It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish." Very similar forms of this quote are given twice. They are slightly different, so some way of determining the exact wording must be made.
please tell me of what importance it is to have the "exact" wording... it is possible and very probable she spoke the same quote more than once.. can you repeat the same quote the exact same way every time? I cannot.
Here is a detailed reference of how this came to be misattributed to Mother Teresa: http://www.paradoxicalcommandments.com/mother-teresa-connection.html
