Telekinesis quote edit

The telekinesis quote is often attributed to Vonnegut. I suspect this is false- I'm fairly familiar with Vonnegut's works and I don't remember him writing that. I'm also a little unsure that Randi said this either. 208.191.170.94 07:03, 2 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Randi said it at the end of this issue of Swift. He might not have been the first to say it, though. Bubba73 01:17, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, 208.191.170.94, for that valuable lesson on why sourcing is so important. A few weeks after your posting, I finally got around to adding the citation that Bubba73 mentions to the quote. This way, no one need take our word for Randi having said it — it's available for verification. It's definitely one of those witticisms that is so appropriate that it makes you think someone must have said it before. I welcome folks to do research to discover an ealier source, but ask them to please cite references if they find something. (The web and even print media are littered with unsourced attributions of quotes.) Updating and correcting quotation information based on sourced data strengthens Wikiquote. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 05:00, 9 January 2006 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced edit

Wikiquote no longer allows unsourced quotations, and they are in process of being removed from our pages (see Wikiquote:Limits on quotations); but if you can provide a reliable, precise and verifiable source for any quote on this list please move it to James Randi. --Antiquary 18:33, 8 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • "Concerning the challenge, I always have an 'out': I'm right!" (According to a personal communication with Randi, this is what he actually said, which was misquoted in Fate.)

On homeopathy edit

  • "I do not expect that homeopathy will ever be established as a legitimate form of treatment, but I do expect that it will continue to be popular."
  • "Feeling better is not actually being better."
  • "Heroin also makes people feel better, but I wouldn't recommend using heroin."
