- Quran 37:51–57
- Translation:
- One of [the residents of Paradise] will say, "I once had a companion ˹in the world˺ who used to ask ˹me˺, 'Do you actually believe ˹in resurrection˺? When we are dead and reduced to dust and bones, will we really be brought to judgment?'" He will ˹then˺ ask, "Would you care to see ˹his fate˺?" Then he ˹and the others˺ will look and spot him in the midst of the Hellfire. He will ˹then˺ say, "By Allah! You nearly ruined me. Had it not been for the grace of my Lord, I ˹too˺ would have certainly been among those brought ˹to Hell˺."
- Quran 7:44–45
- Translation:
- The residents of Paradise will call out to the residents of the Fire, "We have certainly found our Lord's promise to be true. Have you too found your Lord's promise to be true?" They will reply, "Yes, we have!" Then a caller will announce to both, "May Allah's condemnation be upon the wrongdoers, those who hindered ˹others˺ from Allah's Way, strived to make it ˹appear˺ crooked, and disbelieved in the Hereafter."
- Quran 7:50–51
- Translation:
- The residents of the Fire will then cry out to the residents of Paradise, "Aid us with some water or any provision Allah has granted you." They will reply, "Allah has forbidden both to the disbelievers, those who took this faith ˹of Islam˺ as mere amusement and play and were deluded by ˹their˺ worldly life." ˹Allah will say,˺ "Today We will ignore them just as they ignored the coming of this Day of theirs and for rejecting Our revelations."

- Quran 11:42–46
- Translations:
- Noah called out to his son, who stood apart, "O my dear son! Come aboard with us and do not be with the disbelievers." He replied, "I will take refuge on a mountain, which will protect me from the water." Noah cried, "Today no one is protected from Allah's decree except those to whom He shows mercy!" And the waves came between them, and his son was among the drowned. And it was said, "O earth! Swallow up your water. And O sky! Withhold ˹your rain˺." The floodwater receded and the decree was carried out. The Ark rested on Mount Judi, and it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people!" Noah called out to his Lord, saying, "My Lord! Certainly my son is ˹also˺ of my family, Your promise is surely true, and You are the most just of all judges!" Allah replied, "O Noah! He is certainly not of your family—he was entirely of unrighteous conduct. So do not ask Me about what you have no knowledge of! I warn you so you do not fall into ignorance."

- Quran 96:13–18
- Translation:
- What if that ˹man˺ persists in denial and turns away? Does he not know that Allah sees ˹all˺? But no! If he does not desist, We will certainly drag him by the forelock—a lying, sinful forelock. So let him call his associates. We will call the wardens of Hell.

- Quran 43:74–78

- Quran 67:6–11
- Translation:
- Those who disbelieve in their Lord will suffer the punishment of Hell. What an evil destination! When they are tossed into it, they will hear its roaring as it boils over, almost bursting in fury. Every time a group is cast into it, its keepers will ask them, "Did a warner not come to you?" They will reply, "Yes, a warner did come to us, but we denied and said, 'Allah has revealed nothing. You are extremely astray.'" And they will lament, "If only we had listened and reasoned, we would not be among the residents of the Blaze!" And so they will confess their sins. So away with the residents of the Blaze!

- Quran 7:38–39
- Translation:

- Indeed, Hell is lying in ambush as a home for the transgressors, where they will remain for ˹endless˺ ages. There they will not taste any coolness or drink, except boiling water and ˹oozing˺ pus—a fitting reward. For they never expected any reckoning, and totally rejected Our signs. And We have everything recorded precisely. ˹So the deniers will be told,˺ "Taste ˹the punishment˺, for all you will get from Us is more torment."

- Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said: "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers were women who were ungrateful." It was asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" (or are they ungrateful to Allah?) He replied, "They are ungrateful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors and the good (charitable deeds) done to them. - I should like to consider the Koranic hell. … Muhammad really let his otherwise limited imagination go wild when describing, in revolting detail, the torments of hell: boiling water, running sores, peeling skin, burning flesh, dissolving bowels, and crushing of skulls with iron maces. And verse after verse, sura after sura, we are told about the fire, always the scorching fire, the everlasting fire. From sura 9.69 it is clear that unbelievers will roast forever.

- Quotes that may belong somewhere else.
This page suffers from a number of issues, one being that it is extremely violent. Another is that the "Quotes about …" section is rather sparse and could benefit from the inclusion of more perspectives.
Here follows an attempt to rebuild the page. As always, the task is to go about it in a systematic way, documenting one's changes in the process.
To begin with, all quotes and images have been moved to the talk page so that previous work is not lost.
The number of categories have been trimmed by only considering categories that can be cross-referenced with existing Wikiquote and Wikipedia pages. As for the quotes themselves, preference is given to passages that use the original term (e.g., "tree of Zaqqum" over "cursed tree").
The problem of violence is difficult since the topic is what it is, but an attempt has been made to list less violent passages first. It may also prove helpful to move difficult subjects to their own pages.
The task of illustrating the page is similarly challenging, and it would be well to look for gentler images if possible. For the time being, all illustrations have been moved to the talk page.
On a final note, it would be good to have more quotes in the "Quotes about …" section, but collecting quality quotes takes time. This, then, has to be considered a work in progress. BurningLibrary (talk) 14:18, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
