Talk:Hillel the Younger
Latest comment: 16 years ago by Cato
I created this page because there was a quote from Rabbi Hillel on the Hillel the Elder page that was in fact by Hillel the Younger. He is a far more obscure character and seems to have no Wikipedia article.--Cato 20:01, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the Wikilink. Hillel the Younger was not Hillel II. Hillel the Younger was the son of Judah the Prince and lived in the early third century. Hillel II was a descendant of Judah the Prince over 100 years later; he is too late to be mentioned in the Mishnah. Confusing, I know.--Cato 22:32, 1 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is wrong. I repeat, Hillel the Younger [1] was not Hillel II [2]. (I see there was a typo in my last comment; he was Judah's grandson, not son.) --Cato 23:52, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
It is highly unlikely that these citations may be ascribed to a 3rd century Amora.
