Talk:Emily Dickinson

Titles must not be provided except in the rare cases where they were part of tthe manuscript! - Dickinson titled only a very few of her own poems. Later editors have seen fit to massively alter her own punctuation, capitalization, spelling, even line breaks, and to add titles, but luckily this is now deprecated by scholarship and no reliable modern edition does so (Franklin or Johnson). See for instance Why Dickinson Didn't Title Mgasner 02:55, 23 October 2005 (UTC)
- In the interest of providing as much of the available information as is practical, I think any commonly used titles should be provided, when known, in the comments following a quotation. ~ Kalki 21:38, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
